Multi-use PC

"Indentured servitude consisted of a worker (the "indentured servant"), usually from a foreign country, agreeing to work for a specific time, usually about 7-8 years, to pay off his costs of travel to the new country. Pay would be minimal during those 7-8 years, and might only include housing, food and training. The worker might also receive land for himself at the end."

Heck I am all for borrowing money! As long as you can pay it back.

Exactly what the financial industry wants you to believe.

Was a joke mate.

Not saying borrowing is wrong. Just I don't do it in most cases. A house being the exception.

I myself don't like owing money unless there is no other way. It "indentures" me to a payment plan and requires me to work 20-30% more hours to pay for it then if I paid cash. Very hard to get the cash reserve to start with, but I think it's worth it in the long run.

I hope it will last me at least 5 years. Im coming from an original pentium system that uses 50% of its processor to determine how long it stays in idle.

Im hoping to borrow money off parents so I have a 0% interest rate :D
I currently have £400 in bank, trying to keep it as cheap as possible so here is what I currently have:

Nice kit.
I"m not very knowledgeable about what CPU, GPU, motherboard is best.

I like the T28. Looks a good case for the money.

If you want to put a bigger cooler in later T28 has 160mm CPU clearance. That leaves you 40mm for coolers with 120mm fan. TeamGroup Elite looks less then 40mm and there are many excellent cooler with 120mm fan on front. ;)

Thats great cheers for that Doyll.

I'm just thinking price wise, cost of buying a 2500K and cooler, is it really worth it for the extra performance and possible problems.

Well, another reason to change coolers is noise. You may find system is a little louder than you like. Not saying you will, but who knows? Fans are what make the noise so quieter fans/coolers mean quieter system.

System in my sig is multi-use lounge PC. Work with it by day, HTPC evenings.

Noise isnt really an issue since I have a Sennheiser headset, and it cant be louder tha my xbox or laptop! :D

How much did your PC cost and would you reccomend sourcing any components second hand.

That's not a fair quiestion.

Big part of living debt free is buying most everything used.

New things in my system: PSU (because it died and needed immediate replacement), half of my HDDs (when they were 70% of what they are now), fans (to make it quiet), cabling (first all sata & PWM setup), 32" monitor on clearance.

Everything else was used, B Grade or clearance.

Total system cost with several years accumulation = 900

I need a good stiff drink before we continue.

I looked in the clearance section when I was hunting for parts but could only find the HDD that actually looked like a good deal. I've been contemplating fleebay but I am unsure about quality of the stuff there etc.

Shopping used requires much more knowledge of what you are looking to buy and time looking. The more specific the bits, the longer it can take. I usually have at least 3 possible choices. Right now I need a GA X58A-UD5 or UD3R motherboard, a good deal on i7 9xx 6core CPU and DDR3 triple channel for it. Have been looking for a month with no luck. May never find them.

Okay so since my xbox broke. The disc tray has gotten jammed and the case (its the slim version) has been designed not to be opened!
I will be buying shortly, maybe tomorrow.
