Multi Zone Audio

Will take a look. I used LMS back in the squeezebox days.

Crazy it’s probably 12-13 years since I had the Touch!

yeah and the touch is still supported, because it's open source people have released firmware for the touch's. Got a couple of Touch's. They still work well

You need the LMS APK, and of course you can control it via IP. Use the material skin plugin.

I still slightly regret selling my squeezebox touch! The Wiim devices with a screen and remote I suppose will outperform it (albeit with a cost).

Yeah the Wiim lacks full touch screen control of the Touch, also the remote control is a lot better with lots of buttons. Plus the Touch has a bigger screen than the Ultra.

That's very cool. I think i sold mine when production stopped and they skyrocketed as it was too tempting not to!

Also still working on my wife to agree to some on wall speakers. She'd much rather not have them, but we keep having issues with the soundbar not syncing with the TV and i'm playing on that massively!

Met with the builders this morning. I've decided to add a false wall behind the tv to allow installation of in wall speakers rather than have the bulk of on wall options. Offers a lot more speaker options too. I'll then have the set of ceiling speakers about the sofa set to rears. The AV amp can then be one of the room amplifiers so offsets the cost of a Wiim. I'm justfying this all that way anyway :D

Unsure at the moment whether to add a centre or not. I'd prefer not to fit one as with the TV unit we have, a centre speaker would result in the tv being higher than i'd like as they're quite bulky. No plans to change the tv unit. I've read a few things suggesting it's not essential to have the centre.

You can get away without a center although one is recommended.

I'd definitely have a centre. You can get away without, but its not optimal. At least put the wires in for one for futureproofing.

Yeah i think i will, although given it's close proximity to the av amp in the tv unit, it shouldn't be difficult to add retrospectively.

For anyone who's done in wall speakers. How do you plan for potential future tv upgrades? We've a 65" tv now and whilst unlikely to want bigger. You never know what the future may bring. Would you space them to allow for a 75" tv to be fitted? Or just go with the current sizing?

Can't really plan ahead. I had a 5.1 system initially, then 7.1. After that a big jump to 9.3.4

No idea that Atmos /height speakers would exist back in 5.1 era. Look at the Dolby speaker configurations and think what you want in the future. Look into two subs so have a additional RCA cable fitted, but work out where ideal locations are.

I'd ensure you are able to replace HDMI cables easily enough, as standards change you may need to upgrade them..if they're fixed...oops.

Oh yeah, i was more on the TV sizing. Too close to a 65" means a 77" upgrade would require them being covered and having to be moved which creates mess.

Don't think i'd ever go further than 5.1

Depends on room size, budget, and whether you want atmos/dts x

For a given budget I'd rather have a higher quality 5.1 than lower 9.2.4. I'd recommend duals subs though, flatter response, higher output, each sub isn't working as hard, and more even bass response on each seating position.

Going to one to three subs was incredible :D

also another option is projector for movies....use acoustically transparent screen so doesn't matter if screen is over speakers.

What is your room size L X W X H?

Is it open to other rooms?

Dimensions are in the opening post (i don't think they've changed). TV will be on the wall to the left backing onto the wardrobe/bathroom.

The main concern is the long firing range, but i'm never going to particularly win on that regardless of system.

No height dimensions. If you can give me those dimensions I can work out what one single sub you'll need
