Multiple IMs

Pidgin gets my vote as well.

Running Facebook chat through it with the XMPP support. Although I continually get questions about why I'm "on" Facebook all the time but handy for the mates that don't seem to use anything else.

Also on the #overclockers channel with it's IRC support as well as MSN and Gmail.

Just recently noticed it supports GroupWise Messenger as well so now it's my only IM client.

Have tried the latest version of Trillian recently but its lack of support for GroupWise would mean running two IM clients and I like just one thank you very much

I use no IMs as I can't be bothered chatting to people when I'm watching porn, checking the football scores, or posting here. The last time I did use IMs was when I had a bit of a Travian addicition and I'd use IRC and Messenger.

With so many IM systems WLM, Googletalk, Skype, FB, Yahoo! Messenger. Does everyone install all the IM clients or do you install a multiple IMs client like Trillian, Pidgin? Share your opinion and the IM client you use.

I use ebuddy on my phone while on the move, and some times i fire up imo.im where i have all accounts linked.

what if you want to talk to more than one person at once, and more importantly need to talk to them while you and they are doing other things (so can't just be glued to the phone)?

Ahhh IRC... Used to run eggdrops on a solaris box to help me + friends get up to michief back in the days where you could take advantage of splits and also when hardly anyone had firewalls to protect them from all the script kiddie Windows9x exploits.

I thought IRC would have been dead and buried by now?

Very true. As I said above I'm a big fan of IRC; many people don't realise that for lots of issues IRC is way faster than even a forum as good as OcUK.

I just use Adium (OS X). Much easier and has features some of the original clients miss out on (eg end-to-end encryption).

One of the best pieces of software ever.

still use msn live messenger, only think that I can't stand is when sending url's of pictures, it fills the window, but i'm sure that can be disabled?

The 5 beta seems to run alright and I'm waiting for the multiple sign on thing to be fully implemented. Sounds handy
