Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

So basically a small tiny bit on the end of your screw, then feed through the frame and screw in to the motors

Will do

The standoffs have metal screws, the only nylon stuff is being used on my flight controller mount, the rest is metal hex screws, and silver nuts

Like £9 for some?

I hate paying that sort of price for what is effectivly a bit of glue, that I will only use a few times lol

Yeh thats the stuff I was going to go for

Iv done some more programming on the radio, and the Naze, calibrated the ESC/Motors and the accelerometer

My model is created on the taranis, tx/rx binded, flight mode set Aux1 "Angle" as low

Although props off, I can only seem to engauge the motors to spin by using the Naze software, with the naze usb disabled, and the battery connected to the model, I cannot engauge any throttle. Is there some process im missing here? the mixers and channels are set-up on the radio, sticks calibrated, model I created is in D8 CH 1 - 6 and PPM mode

Iv followed youtube videos and guides

EDIT: I got it, left stick right to arm :p

Slightly different than my other flight controller

Peeps with the Naze32 on a 250 quad and 2300k motor, what throttle values and range are you using on your quad?

So far I have set the following, hopefully this is ok

Max throttle: 2000
Middle Throttle: 1500
Failsafe Throttle: 1200
Minimum Throttle: 1150
Minimum Command: 1000

Under the config tab, and also the throttle MID and EXPO under the Naze reciever tab

What I have got set (and I have not changed this)

Throttle MID: 0.50
Throttle EXPO: 0.00
RC Rate: 0.90
RC EXPO: 0.65
Channel MAP: (Werdly this is AETR1234, where my tx is set TAER1234) But the stick movements when plugged in tho the Naze seem to show on the bars correctly, should I be worried?)

I guess when I look at the reciever tab, looking at the colour bars, all should be around 1500, but throttle whats the ideal range to use here?

Also from the naze board, where the breakout cables (same as the reciever pins are on) I have lots of un-used connectors, which for the moment im hiding under the nazeboard. Tucked away, just incase I need them for something

I still seem to have one ESC which is burning up, I cant keep my finger on it too long

and hugely worried that the right two motors randomly cut in and out during throttle, and when starting to throttle up, not all motors kick in at the same time, if you apply a slight bit of throttle, maybe 2 or 3 of them will kick in, othertimes all of them will, but throttle down, and 3 of them will be going and 1 will randomly stop

Something is not right here. Bet its something to do with all the wire cutting and resoldering

Flew a test today.

DJI F500
E300
Naza V2
FrSky X8R
Turnigy 5000mAh 4S 20C Lipo x2 parallel

Flew to 3.5V volts and land. Hover flight with correction due to wind. 29 mins 52 seconds. Now let all the questions how long will an E300 fly for be answered. Pretty happy with that

Thats not bad, decent timing, but was that low throttle hovering? Did you have any juice left in the battery? I guess when your flying normally or doing some faster flying you would shave a little off that

Do you have any legs or landing gear? be weary if you come down on that a little hard, generally if you had legs they would take the brunt of the landing force if something "should" happen.

I went out not long ago, I upped my max RADIUS in Naza V2 to 150 meters and flew it over to some next fields a good few times pretty happy, extending it as I build confidence, my alt is still set to 100m felt no need to go higher yet (not until I mount some camera gear anyway.

Also my faster and snappier fun flying is coming along quite nicely now too :)

Was a test flight of stock only

I did I could fly till 3.3 then head for landing.

Will not rebuild with FPV, Gimbal etc etc

Cool thats a good flight time though :)

I tried mounting this landing gear to my bottom plate just now, been putting it off, however I cant figure out how they mount, I cant seem to find any lining up position for the hex screw positions on the bottom plate on the naza to match the plate for these :/

Iv done it exactly as per instruction

its the landing gear I got on ebay.

Did someone on here say they had the same?

Or do you have to use some sort of nut/bolt through those long looking gaps

I have found a youtube video but its not clear, the guy has his plate the wrong way round (he has his forward red arms at the front, but the bottom plate of the DJI is twisted round so the longer part is facing to the right) in the below video, his plates are also different looking

Yeh going to order some off eba y just not got round to it, need to sort out some issues before i fly it

Looking at how the naze32 is powered it looks like I have to remove some wires from 3 of the escs and only the one ESC connector is to have all 3 wires going to the naze32

Then other people saying leaving them in is fine

Think I'm going to order a dedicated bec to give direct power without going through esc

No need for a bec, the bec in the esc's are linier so all four can be plugged in, they will only provide the 5v and not series to 20v. you will be fine with all 4 plugged in, I have this with my afro esc on my quad and my emax esc on my tri. A dedicated bec is just unneeded expense and weight.

A sbec speed controller is another story, they would provide 5v x how ever many esc are connected, so in this case 4x5v = 20v and magic smoke.

Yeah I heard its ok to have them all plugged in

It came after I asked on forums as to why one of my escs is much hotter(I cant keep ny finger on it) to the touch

one may be brunting the load of the flight controller and expelling the energy form the voltage. how long does it take to start warming up, I can check mine on my tri for you.

Yeh if you or anyone could compare, not long really, if power on and motors are idle, nothing to report, when I throttle up, it takes about 20-30 seconds for the motor1 ESC to get quite hot.

Just been to a model shop to have a look around and to buy some zap thread lock blue £2.50 and some velcro loop straps, they had a fatshark kit, but over priced at £300+ think it was preditor, 250mw.

Asked if I bought the kit if at anytime I wanted to try it out with a screen instead of goggles he said yes aslong as you get a screen with a reciever in it.

Im umming and arring over fatshark kit now which I will use between the DJI F450 and the 250 quad I have

Hey DJMK4,

got the Naze32 the other day but haven't had time to look at it until now. WOW you must have been packing some heat in your soldering iron and it's burn the pads to a crisp, lol.

Was hoping to get it usable but after cleaning it up a bit to many of the pads are gone :-(. but having looking to the Naze32 while waiting for it, i think it will be my next quad's FC, some nice features for the price.

Anyway thanks for sending it, hope you replacement is working good?

Ah you recieved my old Naze :p

yeh I didnt get on well with the soldering, even on low heat. It actually didnt take a lot to melt the pin holders and the contact. I think I will stick to soldering stuff like wires, or power boards, im not good a intricate work, would rather someone else do that for me, as if they mess it up, there fault :)

Replacement is working perfect yep although I have not flown it, just configuring it, should have just paid the £4.99 for someone to solder for me :)
