Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Can you link me to a frame that you'd recommend? At the end of the day I'm happy to swap out the frame at a later date once I've got the hang of simply flying the thing!

I quite like this frame

But you could design your own wooden frame spider frame. Aluminium is a decent material though anyway, easy to find replaceable parts.

Oh yes I have to show you my new IMU,

It's the GY_80 can be found on ebay for ~ £20. 10dof :D.
I haven't tried Baro hold and mag hold yet, but it will be interesting to see how it goes.
I hope to see some videos wonder, that new HK board seems quite interesting.

It is possible but only with level & altitude hold.
Well perhaps you could fly with just altitude hold but it will be really hard in acro mode.
Warthox once flew two quadcopters at the same time, while one was locked in with position, altitude & level hold.

Spent all night hunting for various bits and pieces in the UK, it's bad enough trying to find things actually for sale in Europe! Think I'm going to have to give in and order the radio/receiver from the global section of hobby king and accept it's going to take donkey's years to get here :( Time to learn how import duty and stuff works I guess?!

On the quad side of things. I've been chucking my Hubsan around like a loony and whilst it charges just sitting and watch acrobatic videos all day, I've changed my mind. Going to go with a smaller quad (12" or so), 20A blueseries esc, ~1200kv motors and 8045 props I reckon. Think I can just about get everything for the quad from the UK store providing I accept that I'll need to be doing some soldering!

Seen some damn nice custom quads browsing RC Groups, Love this custom frame!

It doesn't take that long tbh.
Regular air mail has taken 1.5 weeks max for me.
And there is the new hobbyking shipping method ( option called channel shipping) which takes about 3-10 days, very fast. Usually just £2 extra on the order.
HK post is bad though, singapore mail is pretty good though. If you use channel shipping it will avoid the very long shipping times of the dreaded HK slowboats.

Care if you fpv today, just been up.
The cloud base is insanely low. Where I was, it was about 200 ft from ground level.
I was actually in the cloud at one point.

I use 14 awg/16 awg. Turnigy silicone wire. Which is really nice quality.
I use a power distribution board, then an xt60 connector onto the battery.
It's so much cleaner than making a y- connector up. Also can easily add LEDs etc.

Use moongel for dampening on the fc, it's worth its weight in gold.
