Skydio x2, pretty impressive looking.

Impressive especially the night vision and the 3d mapping and thermal imaging. I have heard rumours that it will be at least $3,500 though so should be impressive!!!

Plus its designed for military use and has a military licence and cannot be sold outside of the US atm either.

Love my Mini, squeezed out some great footage for a total amateur on a so called selfi drone:

Saving up for the big boy now, Mavic 3 most likely. My biggest issue thus far has been the light weight & power against strong wind, which has ruined shots (slows right down as you turn into it) but I don't blame the drone as it's beyond the scope of it's design.

Nice shots ☺️

I got the Mavic Air 2 yesterday. Very happy with it. Image quality is vastly improved when compared to my Mavic Pro 1. I certainly have no complaints when considering the limitations of the sensor. Noise is well controlled up to ISO400 and the dynamic range is decent (certainly way, way more DR than the Pro 1).
Not sure I care much for the DJI Fly app. It seems quite limited compared to the Go4 app I was used to. I guess this is down to pro vs consumer drone though.

I quickly knocked up a few mods for it on the 3D Printer:

Propeller clips so they don't move around in the bag
Battery holder to hold 2 batteries together and stop them floating around in the bag
Lanyard clip for the transmitter
Mount to take my Gear 360 above the drone for some sweet 360 videos

I'm a bit disappointed with the bag. It's a bit tight to take all the stuff that comes with the Fly More package and yet allows the batteries to float around, potentially damaging the transmitter. Any recommendations for something better?

Also, what were DJI thinking with their choice of ND filters? Starting at ND16 and going up to ND256! Do DJI test things on the surface of the sun?

Lol on the nd filters! At least you got some in the pack.

But nd256 is only 8 stops and dont forget the air 2 has no variable aperature and is fixed at f2.8. So might be needed if shooting towards the sun at sunset/sunrise or you want to go fo smooth waterfall long exposure shots?

I have no idea why the go4 app doesnt work with the air 2 since it does with the air 1. perhaps DJI will add it soon?

Litchi app does everything go4 app does and more and apparently they are adding air 2 support as we speak.

@Rilot

Just watched a video which popped up in my feed this morning about the new massive software update for the fly app with loads more features and settings, You can download the apk or just wait a few days for the update.

Took my Inspire 1 out tonight for the first time in ages, always looks so impressive in the air and is so easy to keep in sight. Birds generally don't try and mess with it either, with the carbon fibre blades it has they would be well advised not to :p. Always feels so different flying this to any other drone as it has a sense of weight and momentum as it fly's along, surprisingly agile and speedy, full pelt it almost stands on end when you let go of the stick as it hits the brakes.

Was looking into a used x5 to replace the standard ball camera it comes with but after looking at some vids the image generally doesn't seem to be much better, plus you have to deal with reduced flight time due to the additional weight. Plus the x5 second hand costs in the region of 550+, only paid £400 for the inspire :p

Some advice required please! I’m going to buy a small drone to inspect the roofs of houses to save me pulling a ladder out. As this is for commercial purposes, I take it I need a licence from the CAA?

Probably, would likely depend on the size of the drone, mavic mini would be your best bet for that.

That was my thinking as well as it was under 250g. However, my reading is that a licence is needed for commercial operation no matter what the weight. Is that right?

Think so, depending if you want to be "legit" or not i suppose. :o My phantom 3 used to be owned by a guy that done something similar, roof and drain inspections, though not sure if he ever was legit or not, had business cards so presumably was.

The original hinged storage box that came with my headphones was wearing a bit down through repeated use so needed a replacement, Amazon to the rescue

And these are just great.

You need headphones for your drone and why does your drone need to smell nice? :p

Correct. PFAW is required for commercial operation no matter the weight class.
