Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

While DJI entering the FPV scene is a good thing for the technology, the product itself is a bit meh, considering the quads I have personally flown in the past. It's too bulky and flimsy for real FPV flying, you won't be going to local bandos or performing slip-s moves in tight spaces with it, when even a slight knock is enough to break its arms.

By comparison my Armattan Marmotte with its carbon fibre/titanium frame could withstand head on impacts with solid objects and that thing would exceed 100mph in a heart beat.

Suffice to say though, the software side of it is impressive and I think some of the flight characteristics would be perfect to get more people into the hobby making them easier to fly for novice pilots.
 
Lol I don’t think the DJI fov drone is meant to be a racing drone ;). Having a good laugh at the “elitists” on the net saying oh noeesss this is not a real fpv drone.
It isn’t and it’s not aimed at fpv racers.

Saying that I’ve ordered one myself as it seems pretty cool in all honesty and I want to try this whole fpv drone thing. With this DJI drone, seems like it’s pretty much a dummies way of getting into fpv drone.

But I have a question, just sold my Mavic pro yesterday and I can’t seem to find any info on how to remove my details from the drone. Any ideas?? I’m assuming with this fpv drone, you still have to get a licence??

Tbh you can buy an FPV drone RTF for sub £200, and have been able to for ages.

But it's a bit like Apple Phones, you can spend a but more and get DJI and everything will just 'work'.

True but as a first timer getting into fpv drones I think the DJI one will suit me fine till I feel more confident then maybe look at getting one that requires a bit more skill etc.

Yes that's what I meant really, it will just work and be easier to fly.

Do you know if it can go full manual? i.e no self leveling ?

I started with a small drone flying FOV, the purchases an Eachine from BangGood and dived straight in, many arms have been replaced :p Haven't flown for a couple of years now sadly.

From what I’ve seen of videos, it can go full manual or maybe it’s DJI’s way of going full manual.
I won’t be trying that mode out for some time until I’m used to flying it around.

isn’t it meant to do 90mph in manual mode? So more than 144km/h so 10km will take less than 5 minutes to go 10km. Plenty of time to get the 10km back before the battery runs out at 20mins

Yeah but full tilt speed is bound to drain the battery faster, plus their battery durations are always a bit exaggerated. They never specify if 20 mins is with the drone going full speed or not (from what i've seen at least).
 
The DJI FPV uses a 6S 2000mah battery, about 35 quid ish when compared to normal 6S drone batteries. DJI want at least £100 a pop which is insane.

A 6S 2000mah cell would give your average 5" quad about 3-5 minutes flight time, but they also weight less than the DJI FPV but go way faster (anything up to 120mph is possible)
 
Hi everyone. I've been looking at getting a drone, and I've got my eye on either the Mavic Mini or the Mini 2. I'd be a first time owner, I've had a toy drone but it was rubbish and so difficult to fly. I know it's nothing like the proper DJI drones.

At the moment there is almost £200 price difference between the Fly More Combos for both. The Mini 2 is £548 and the Mavic Mini is £368. My question is simple. As a first time user, would it be wise to stump up the extra and go for the expanded feature set on the Mini 2, or pocket the saving of almost £200 and pick up the original? As someone that's never owned one, I've no way of comparing whether the 2k video will be better than the 4k video, but if I did enjoy using the drone and the videos I get, am I likely to regret not going all-out now? I know there are also other new features on the Mini 2 like the OcuSync which is obviously better than the WiFi link used by the Mavic Mini so I do understand that it isn't all just about the camera. What's the advice from those that are in the know?

Hello all.

Is there anyone here in the Hertfordshire area who carries out repairs on drones?

I had mavic pro for all of 2 flights before I got the dreaded "gimbal motor overload" & I've followed videos on YouTube and got it all apart but can't get the cable to sit right so would rather get someone to get it right for me.

I have the mini 2 but have never flown the original mini, obviously it will depend on what you plan to do with it as to wether the 2 is worth the extra, to me it was but having said that yet again I barely use it.... I bought mine from a seller on ebay that specialises in refurbss, it arrived and was litterally new still had all the labels etc on it, started it up and was offered to buy DJI refresh which I did, you can get the combo for about £430 atm
 
So having sold my original Mavic a month or so ago, I bought the DJI fpv drone. Couldn’t fly it for a few weeks as the weather was rubbish. But a couple of weeks ago I managed to get some flight time.
Unfortunately for me it gave me really bad motion sickness so I had no choice but to send it back for a refund.
Kinda gutted about it as I quite liked it but in the end it gave me such bad motion sickness due to the goggles, I didn’t see the point in keeping it.
Guess I’ll just wait for something else to come out, maybe the next dji fpv drone will be better...or maybe I’ll hold till the next Mavic comes out as I miss my Mavic.
 
I've had a DJI Mini 2 Fly More Combo in my cart for months now. I just can't bring my self to click 'buy'.
