I arrived home tonight and my niece (who lost her legs, if anyone remembers) was saying that she was waiting on mum to get out of the toilet. So I went and made up tea and she said that she had been in there for more than an hour. So I immediately got worried. I went out to the toilet and called her name a few times but there was nothing so I ran downstairs and got dad. Got a knife and then opening the door and seen Mum on the floor. I just broke down and ran out as I couldn't take it. Started ringing 999 but by the time I got my address said (first time I've ever rang 999) dad said she was okay. I was going crazy though so I wanted the ambulance to come out anyway. When mum came into the kitchen (where the phone is), dad took over the call and I went to my room. Never cried so much, ever.

She just fainted in the toilet, not sure why. She's feeling okay now. Really scared. though. This type of thing just brings up the whole 'death' thing with me, which scares mea lot when it involves close friends/family.

I thought when I heard about my niece's accident I was in a bad state, but this was bad.

Firstly, thank goodness your mum is OK.

Secondly, thank goodness you weren't going to do what I expected when I read the title (which would have warranted me saying "QUICK TO THE INTERNETS!" ;))

You did well to get onto 999 so quickly, and hopefully it is just one of those things and nothing serious - keep us updated though.

Could've been worse matey :( Thankfully it wasnt. Spend some QT with your mother soon and calm your fears, have a talk and find out if you can help in anyway.

Almost the exact same thing happened to me when I was really young (around 6). My Dad wasn't in so it was just me. It's a pretty terrifying thing seeing your Mum slumped against a wall :/.

Yep, you did well mate and that's a completely natural reaction.

At least your post wasn't "Help Internet my mum's on the toilet floor what do I do?!?!?!111"

Sometimes people faint for little reason. I'm sure it'll be nothing to worry about. Also not something nice to picture but people faint on toilets from straining a bit too much sometimes.

Crikey, that sounds scary. The main thing is she's alright now. Just make sure somebody is with her all night and keep her/yourselves calm.

Is she going for any check ups?

Christ thats scary.

We cant open our toilet door from the outside when its locked, apart from kicking it down.

Good job for getting on 99 so quickly, and glad your mums OK :)

My sister used to faint a lot, turned out to be simple anaemia, theres lots of causes for fainting that arn't particularly serious so don't worry - I'm sure the docs will sort it.

Eeek very sorry to hear this, hope she is OK .And I think it's a very natural reaction to get panicky etc when calling an Ambulance especially if it is a loved one.

Thats awful, any situation where you have to ring 999 s awful, ive only ever been in that situation once, and i never ever want to do it again, ever.

The death thing is more common then i thought, i panic like hell when people go in hosp, i hate the death/illness thing, i cant stand it, it really affects me wen someone dies, only known 2 ppl to die and one of them was going on 3 years ago and is still hard to talk outloud or think about..

By the age of 15 i've fainted 3 times.

Once through sweating so much during a footy match ( i heard this was actually quite dangerous) i collapsed and shook as well, wasn't a usual faint, more a drop to the floor shake then wake up dripping in more sweat :S.

second time was when i had a bad nosebleed at home

third was having a footy kicked i saved it continued walking then just suddenly lost all muscle power as the shock of hitting my finger end nerves made me collapse in reaction. LOL

I passed out when i stepped on my ankle a couple of years after breaking it, was very painful hanse passing out :D

I had my 1st rugby game for skl the day after aswell and i couldnt do anything due to the pain so i got subbed :(

My mum got really dehydrated when we were on holiday about ten years ago. She collapsed in the middle of the restaurant and had to be sent to hospital. Luckily she was ok but it's one of the scariest things I've been through, even though I was pretty young :(

Did you get the knife in case an intruder was in there? Good thinking. I remember when i was home alone when i was younger i thought somebody was in the house so i got my pen knife stealthed it down the the kitchen peering round the corners first then getting the 12 inch bread knife and running round the house into every room shouting "I'm going to kill you" LOL Of course there was nobody in my house :p

I passed out once just getting up off the couch, it was bizarre. Never experienced anything like it before or since.
I've only once come close to that. Same way too, i think its the whole slumping on the couch with minimized heart beat, then getting up quickly and you don't get enough blood flow to the head, often my eyes will sort of flicker dark patches but i just continue walking, im used to it now :o
