The thread title tells you pretty much all you need to know but in case you want a link then Andy Murray has made it through to the Madrid Masters final after beating Roger Federer in three sets. Here is hoping he can win another Masters event now. :)

Although he's miles behind the top 3 in the rankings I don't think he's that far away based on his play any more. His progression is certainly more noticeable than the others now.

I was listening to it live after missing the first set - and Murray played very well indeed

A couple of worrying points though (even though he was playing probably the best player of all time):

1) The ease of which he "gave away" the first set

2) How many game points on Fed's serve he gave away in the 3rd set especially

There was mention of Nadal's shoulder injury - not sure how bad this is, but it cant be that bad if he has managed to get into the semi's (with 37 of the top 38 players in Madrid)

Should be an interesting match tomorrow - even though Nadal has the much easier (on paper) semi

Although he's miles behind the top 3 in the rankings I don't think he's that far away based on his play any more. His progression is certainly more noticeable than the others now.
I think Murray missed a couple of tournements with injuries didnt he - and made up with it with decent runs (esp in the US Open)

Murray has come on big time the last 9 months. It just a matter of time before he is up there with Nadal and Djorkovic. Grand Slam title 2009...i wouldn't bet against it.

Before the US Open I have to admit I thought it was all hype thrown at Murray just because he's British but he's actually a very fine, all-round player. Some of his shots would make Federer/Nadal proud. I think he's definitely capable of winning Grand Slams in the future.

Murray is proving to be rather good a sustained bit of high form, he has to be one of the top 4 best tennis players in the world now, maybe even 3rd? Keep it up hope he wins.

The usual 'british' fans appearing it seems!!! Why can't people just be glad we have someone that is good at something!!!
You can't compare him with Henman as they play a completely different style of tennis.
He's done more than Henman has and he's been on tour a couple of years.
He's not the choker Henman was!
Need I go on? Oh and he's Scottish and that's what's sticking in my fellow British compatriots throats!!!!

Murray has now reached the last 3 major finals - Cincinnati, US Open and Madrid. Quite an achievement.

He should really have no problems winning today. His opponent must be truly knackered, having been taken to a final set tiebreak in all but one of his matches this week.

Tennis players can play one day then the next, you don't get the same aches and pains as other sports so just some good food and rest his opponent should be fine, will be a good match.
