Poll: Mushrooms

They're disgusting. They stink, they have a disgusting look and a disgusting texture. They're disgusting. They grow in **** and live in the dark. People that like them are freaks.

I have noticed recently people stating that certain things have barely detectable smells and tastes. This is the first time someone has been stupid enough to state this to be true of mushrooms (WTF?) but I've also heard the same of celery, cucumber, etc. It is simply not true. They all stink and are all disgusting.

I have always hated mushrooms. They are horrible little things.

I imagine them to be slimy even though I am fairly sure they are not slimy at all.

Love em. Simply the 2nd best food group after meat.
They aren't slimey.
I don't get why people hate them so much. They aren't a strong taste like Marmite. But seems to have the same love/hate thing going on.

When Cooked they have a meaty but slimy texture when raw they have a dry chewy texture. I enjoy my Fungi!

I don't understand that tbh when in a sauce or somthing of the like their flavour isn't as rich and the texture is akin to the sauce so there's no real reason to do this.

My dad would belt be black and blue if I left any food on my plate - needless to say I'm not a fussy eater. Probably the only decent thing he did, I love trying new things and couldn't imagine being so closed to so many foods.

I used to say the same thing until my wife persuaded me to finally try some, never looked back since.

Cooked = how can you not like cooked mushrooms, they're awesome.
