Must Read Books?

I was introduced to the author James Patterson by a friend which I am now on the 4th book in the series.

Nice short chapters and never a dull moment.

First book is called Along Came a Spider which was also made into a film, if you haven't seen the film yet I recommend reading the book first its much better :D

Harper Lee - To Kill a Mockingbird
Friedrich Nietzsche - Thus Spoke Zarathustra
Richard Dawkins - The Blind Watchmaker
Richard Dawkins - The God Delusion
George Orwell - 1984

A Brief History of Time - Prof. Steven Hawking

And if suggestions for a comedy are what you desire, try anything from Spike Milligan or the James Herriot series. These books have had me creased in pain through laughter, no exaggeration!

A vote for the stephen hawkings' book - it's an amazingly well written one, my friend recommends "god created the integers" by him also - a history of mathematics.

Ice Station - Matthew Reilly. Corny action movie put into a book, its actually awesome.
lol, I agree, though I preferred Contest as it was like Unreal Tournament :p.

On a more serious note, try ' The Damage Done ' by Warren Fellows, I loved it.

Coming up to a hell of a long flight, thought id order a few books.

Which do you recommend?

Not Harry Potter though :).

I like Crime, Bi/Autobiographies, and a lot more.

Any you think are must reads out there?

Will buy the rest of the Harry Potters and give them a read too.

Well I think I know the book for you ;) Its the first book I have ever read from start to finish and I enjoyed it a lot!

Redemption, by Stanley "Tookie" Williams. He was the Crip Co-founder, huge gang in the states turn nobel peace prize nominee. Was one hell of a read from start to finish and its crime related and an autobiography :D 5* from me

A bloke in the pub has recently been telling me about that one. I've been trying to find a cheap copy on the auction site for him as he'd like to read it again.

Unfortunetly the Cult status of this book keeps prices high. I don't know if the prices are the same these days but the book used to fetch around 60 quid :(
It is without doubt the best story i have ever read though.

I'd love to hear your more controversial selections - perhaps with a quick description of each, if you have the time?
