When I got mine it was my first LHD car and my first day of driving was in snow/ice when I picked it up, but I got her home in one piece. :)

LHD took me literally a couple of days to get used too, its easy, the hard part was changing gear with the other hand, now that took a good month to get used too as mine was a manual.

Still enjoy it and remember Ford designed these as a platform to be modded and once the bug bites your wallet will know about it, but you will love it. :D
 
how much does a 2011 GT go for over here ?

I see lots of adverts on pistonheads, but they are selling them as "2010 model" which in sense of it being this years model is true, but the yanks sell them as 2011 with 2010 as being the old one, leaving me very confused what they're advertising :D especially when its just a "available for us to import" advert.

Gotta be very careful, 2010 Stangs are the older 4.6 engine.

So any 2010 based on the 2011 car, well make sure its the 5.0l engine.

The new engine is more powerful, returns better MPG and is tunable close to 500BHP with simple bolt-ons.

Also proper 2011 cars have a vastly superior interior, features and any car spec'd with the Brembo package has sports suspension and Brembo brakes as standard which transform the handling.
 
I've always wanted a Mustang.... drive a 2.0Tdi Leon at the moment but I can see myself wanting a 2011 Stang in the next couple of years aswell! They really do look great, fantastic engines and brilliant to mod! :)

It is, even the V6 is bloody good. The old V6 was really a woeful car, but Ford have really upp'd their game, 305 horses from the 3.7l N/A engine with pretty incredible gas mileage.

Still the V6 that impresses me the most from Ford is the ECOBoost V6 Turbo found in the big Ford, well can't remember the name but its like their equivalent of a Mondeo, except its got AWD and a very tunable V6 Turbo engine. How come we get stuck with crap Fords in comparison yet the US get powerful V6/V8's plus AWD to boot with great MPG mileage?
 
I feel the same thing about Australia's Ford Falcon.

A fantastic car, better than a Mondeo in every possible way. Yet only sold over there. It'd be a fantastic car if they brought it over here and shoved a crappy diesel in it for the British penny pinching market.

I spec'd one up on Ford US site and think it was $36,000 to my spec, that was a V8 with pretty much every extra, California Pack, Brembo Add-on, 1000W Shaker system etc. etc.

But you can get a basic V8 with suspension/brakes for circa $32,000

So your looking at around £21,000 for a V8, or around £24,000 for a fully spec'd one. :)

However then the pain comes you need to add at least 30-35% to that price to get the landed UK price so your talking 28-33k landed depending on spec, still a damn site cheaper than say a new M3 which is probably as daft as it sounds the Mustangs closest rival performance/handling wise. Yet half the price with a far superior engine. :)

However any UK stockis well expect to pay 40k, as they will want around 10k profit to cover warranty and to make money etc...

Now why on earth don't Ford bring that car to the UK, its no V8 so won't gussle fuel, its got AWD so great for our weather and its V6 engine is mighty powerful yet again does great on MPG.

If they don't bring the Taurus to the UK, then why don't Ford do say a new top spec Mondeo based on AWD, that engine as surely then they would have a car with Audi S4 performance/quality but without the price?

People in the UK dont want V6 engines. Everyone is convinced you MUST have a diesel, even if you drive 2 miles a day, and our taxation is setup to encourage this.

It wouldnt sell :(
 
they are importing the Camaro to the UK, and they now of course import the Corvette too

why cant they import the mustang :(

on another note how awesome is the mykey technology on the taurus. The ability to program in an annoying "check speed" message that beeps at you constantly when they exceed a limit set by you is awesome. Even more so that that the stereo wont go above 45 % and its limited to 80mph.

Yes you can still get in trouble at 80mph, but i'd rather my car was limited to 80 when my kid was driving it, than not at all.

But they will never do it over here, as nobody lets their kids drive their cars here, and they all drive 1.2 corsas instead. Because a saloon is for old men innit ?

Lets face it, the Mustang and Taurus are way way better than anything Ford currently offer. If they brought them over they'd probably expect stupid money for them and then people would just, well import them anyway....
 
Daft thing is the taurus is bigger and wider than the current mondeo, they could sell it hear as almost like a scorpio / granada replacement sitting in the range above the mondeo as a bigger saloon.

I reckon it would sell too. I know i'd be interested in having the SHO with 4x4 and a 350bhp V6 turbo that tunes to 400bhp with ease !

The SHO at 400BHP matches the 5.0l Mustang to 60MPH due to its AWD, makes it easier to launch.

Yes the Mustang comes into its own beyond 70mph due to the V8 torque and the fact the Mustang also weighs a lot less, something like 1550kg for the Mustang vs the 1800kg of the SHO. But one is a high-class saloon and the other is a grand touring performance muscle car.
 
Well I've just spec'd myself up two cars, can't decide between a California Special or one thats my own custom build:-

My custom spec one has Brembo sports package, don't seem to be able to add that on the California Edition for some reason and its a must for the brakes and revised dampers/springs.

Then you have got to love how the Americans even let you choose your rear axle ratio, so of course a 3.73 is selected. :D

Plus many other extras like 1000W stereo, HID headlights and plenty more goodies, still even with all those goodies if I imported the car myself for a fully spec'd out delivery mileage car taxes/duty/sva paid I am looking at around 36k or 30k at base spec. :)
