MW3 to have dedi servers added

lol at common sense...

I do love it when people go "forget COD play BF instead" its like saying "you should be playing unreal tournament instead of counter-strike" - tho theres some similarities they are aimed at a different audience if you can't tell the difference... well no wonder you hate COD.

Agreed, I'll for one will be trying both. I'll decide which I'll stick to at the time. It appears from the article that the developers have learnt their lesson are are "listening". What that means only time will tell.

This is NOT a developer decision.. this will very likely be the publisher decision for something like this, or at the very best, the upper management of the developer company.

I don't care how many copies this game sells, they aren't getting a penny from me. I would probably enjoy playing the game, but I simply hate Activision far too much. Besides, BF3...

There is no way on earth that they will put dedicated servers in this game without working out a way to milk more money from the players.

CoD died for me pretty much when the CoD2 demo arrived. Small maps, no vehicles & paved the way for the future series as we know it.

I've played each game up to BLOPS (which I didn't actually buy but got it gifted from a m8 - idiot :P ) and it was crap, just like MW2.

No dedicated servers at launch & only considering doing them? Just shows they don't want to go that extra mile for PC community, no matter what `spin` they put on the decisions to consider it. It's not like they are short of cash is it to develop working dedi server code and why don't they use the base code for the BLOPS servers FFS, it's not like they have to start from scratch.

Oh and please don't compare todays IW with the one that produces MW etc as most of the dev team left to go to Respawn.

IWNet sucks balls. I have `interleaving` set on my line for stability, but IWNet would 90% of the time choose me as the host as my i7 920 pc was a good spec to host the server, irrespective that everyone lagged like a bitch when connected to me.
IWNet failed & it was a crap attempt by IW/Activ to push people towards a console style system.

BF3 will get my cash this year & I truly hope it blows MW3 out of the water and offers so much more for a lot less cash. 64 player battlefields over 16 player shoe boxes any day.

You never know, perhaps not with MW3, but I think activision is getting ever so slightly figity over the threat impost by EA/Dice. I read the other day EA are planning a yearly cycle between Medal of Honor and a Battlefield game, just like we get with the current COD series (ala, BF3 vs MW3, MOH 2 (I know there have been more MOH games) vs Black Ops2, then MW4 (unless this is the last MW) vs BC3 etc etc.

I expect there elite programe to fall flat on it's **** and now, as has been said gamers have an alternative, they will have to work harder for your earth pounds.

NB, Dedis doesnt mean MW3 will be saved, just look at black ops, they need to work out a system to allow you to play consistently on the same team as friends. If they absolutley insist on a party like system, they should implement one like crysis 2 which I think worked quite well.

Blacks ops failed imo for this very reason, you couldnt play with friends.

Edit: Also, Activision could get an early scalp if they support mod tools etc, especially as it appears many console gamers are buying gaming PCs for the full fat BF experience, which can only be a good thing, give PC more clout.

Looking forward to MW3 if dedi is supported. But bf3 just looks insane and has been in the making much longer graphics look very decent :)

Didn't they claim they were going to "investigate" this option with MW2 when they first announced there wouldn't be dedicated servers with that and there was a massive outcry? (and we all know how that turned out)

"oh noes, we gona get stomped by BF3 cos we are lazy/cheap ******** and we know it - quick! what can we say that will make us look less like tools in the meantime but that we can inevitably go back on at a later date?!... "

sums up MW2/BOPS/MW3 to varying degrees.

Also at a loss as to why people still anticipate/buy their games. You already have MW3! It's called MW/MW2/BOPS. You already have the game! No need to spend 60 odd quid on a reskin and map pack DLCs that the community could churn out themselves if they didn't restrict modding in the first place for profits.

You're being reamed and you openly admit to enjoying it. Crazy.

Wait a week after launch.
Read reviews of both.
Consider which will give the most entertainment/£
Buy game.
?????
Profit.

I like the look of BF3, but COD could easily be as good, if not better (perhaps not visually), so I'll wait until both games are out and people have played them.. Forget the press, they'll be paid to say both are amazing :p

Which insane part of your brain has convinced you of this? Do you also think setting of a nail bomb in your local market place is a good idea to?

New maps, new weapons, new perks, new killstreaks, new SP story. But yeah it's exactly the same as MW/MW2/BLOPS

Ohh and lol at using the word 'reamed'.

CoD isn't going to be even remotely different to MW, MW2 or Blops. BF3 is looking like it should at least be something different from what came before and a worthwhile improvement. You could just replace 'buy game' with 'go back and play MW/MW2/BO' and you'd get exactly the same experience with very similar perks and equally as stupid killstreaks. MW at least kept it to a minimum.

For the first time ever, I will not be preordering COD.
If it gets dedi's, I'll consider ordering it a week or two after launch and only after reading some reviews. However, BF3 already has my preorder.

After buying BFBC2 on launch and re-bought it on steam sales (£6.80) I'm personally waiting for it to come on steam.
