MX5 Owners in here....bring your curling tongs

Really like it, looks great. For me if I could change one thing though, it would be the colour of the front lip spoiler. Either gloss black or colour matched red. But hey that's just nit picking. :)
 
I personally think to RF model should have just been a tin top to be a bit more direct competition for the GT86/BRZ. Especially with FI conversions already in the pipeline from BBR

Is it not going to be light weight aluminium? My understanding is that the other panels on the ND are.
 
Looking at changing the LSD oil and Gearbox oil in my NC. There's lots of information on the net about the 6 speed box needing a certain oil, but everywhere seems to just suggest the 5 speed box will accept anything.

I was considering buying 5litres (because it's cheaper to buy it in 1x5L than a few in 1Litres) and doing the difference and box with the same oil. BUT. The oil I linked and chose is LS (limited slip) spec, will this be okay in the gearbox?

Almost finished my turbo conversion over Friday/Saturday

My originally planned intercooler pipework route isn't going to work so I'm waiting on a couple of bits of silicone to get it back on the road running low boost non-intercooled then I can take it to have some proper hardpipe made up s little down the line.

I guess upping the power a little more gradually will stop me getting bored so quickly
 
Its 2.25" ID pipework.

There seems to be mixed opinions on the washer bottle, it it melts then I'll replace it with a Fast5 alloy one but until it happens I'll leave the OEM one in place
 
Sorry you did tell me before but my memory is rubbish. I had to move the washer bottle as it got in the way of my external wastegate so don't know for sure if it would have melted but it does get pretty hot round there.

What are you starting on 5psi? I'm taking mine to Autotronix soon for mapping and turn the boost up a little (currently at 10psi). It will be interesting to see what power it's running with just road tuning.
 
Whatever it makes with wastegate boost so somewhere in the 5-7psi region, with some an extra couple of degrees timing pulled and 20% meth in the fuel until I've got intercooler pipework sorted
 
Bet you can't wait to get it finished it's been a while since you started collecting parts. Took me about a year to piece it all together but it was well worth it.

Cosmetically though its not great with a couple of dents which I've not sorted out and lacker is peeling fairly badly to the left of the bonnet...

Off to pick up some BBR Shocks and Springs tomorrow.

Gave the LSD some fresh oil this week and will be booking it I'm with a mate to have the gearbox oil and brake fluid changed at his garage with me supplying the bits, because frankly, the weathers awful and I've ran out of time to do it.

I absolutely love this car at the moment. Such a shame packages such as BBR and Blinks turbo kits are so expensive, FI for around 3k all in and it would be straight on.
 
Laziness kicked in a little regarding the gearbox oil to be honest. That and that fill plug looked a right pain to get to.
 
The under tray that normally covers the bung on mine got thrown in the bin after the heads disintegrated when trying to remove it to get the downpipe off last week
