What you think?

The back and front bumper look wrong.

Why did you attach a mondeo bumper to an escort?

Mac

Looks ok tbh, never been a fan of the escort but they do look best in red, front mesh is a little ott but life goes on, nice to see you aint gone for clear rears!

I will say though....

THE BLUR IT HURTS ME EYES!

He didn't, must be a bumper that looks like one becuase that isn't an RSAP Mondeo rear bumper :) Probably a replica designed for the Escort.

Doesn't look that bad actually, quite tidy as far as Escorts go, but I'm struggling to see the point in the engine conversion. I mean if you were going to all that hassle, why not fit an engine worth going to the trouble over?

Horses for courses I suppose!

@Smiley Man - What do you mean? :o

@penski - Whereas you consider my car nasty I don't get moist over scrapworthy vauxhalls!!

@ Fox - Conversion was easy power mate, the 2L silvertop is a hell of a lot more torquey than the 1800 lump originally in the GTi and has a lot more potential for more power :) Reason I went for it, it was cheap and bolted straight in, swapping a few parts from my other engine.
Re: the bumper, yes it's a replica of the ST24 rear bumper as seen on the mondeo designed specifically for the escort.

Cheers

James.

How much was the conversion? Suprised it was worthwhile given that you can get 130ishbhp out of the 1.8 without THAT much fuss, which is only 6bhp shy of the 2.0 16v.

Still, nice engine though, must get me one ;)

Got any pics of the engine, would be interesting to see how it fit in.

It probably won't look any difference as the 2.0 Zetec is identical looking and sized to the 1.8 Zetec, afaik.

Shame that, always nice to see conversion engine pics....

Throw some daylight on the situation some might say!

700 in total, that includes - New cambelt, new water pump, all new gaskets all round and a mate who's a mechanic to fit it.

Yeah you can get 130ish out of the 115bhp lump without much fuss, probably looking at £200 worth of bits to get it up there, only problem is with the 1800 lump itself, you can increase the bhp easy but theres no torque to back it up ;)

The 2L responds well to a set of fastroad cams, throttle bodies and aftermarket management system, I've not even begun to think how many thousands it's going to cost me in insurance and parts :o

Oh, for the record I am insured fully comp with all mods declared with Adrian Flux for £1200, 20 yrs old, driving 2 1/2 years with speeding conviction declared ;)

Thats not actually bad, its what I paid for the Mondeo at 20, mods + conviction declared :)

You basically made an escort into a mondeo. should have just bought a mondeo to start with.

Not really mate, yes I've got the ST24 rear and the mondeo engine but the escort is a lot lighter than a mondeo and in 3dr GTi form is a lot smarter (IMO)
I do like the ST200's but I'm not prepared to blow over £2K on insurance, that's scooby territory ;)

A lot lighter?

Escort is around 1150kg and a Mondeo 1240kg so I wouldnt class that as a lot lighter.

If the 3dr GTi looks much better then why did you make your escort look like a mondeo instead of an Escort Gti?

Also, the superior handling on the Mondeo and equipment specification more than makes up for this.

I appreciate what you have done to your car and obviously you mustlove it, which I think is great. But really, you could have bought a Mondeo and had roughly the same appearance, same power but more kit and better handling.
