My 540

Looks like I'm gonna have to make some changes to the loop. With the stock cooler on I'm gonna have to either remove the fans or the radiator from the front of the case to make room. Hopefully with a water block though the 780 will fit in with the existing fans.

How loud are these 780's? I've heard they're much better than the 290 but I'm used to absolute silence :)

Despite max temps on the Inno3d 780 of 64*C while gaming on Farcry 3 or Tomb raider maxxed out There's a water block on it's way :) A copper one of course, and Davido Labido is gonna sort me some lovely braided extensions :)

Here's how it stands with the 780, there's definitely not enough room for the card here with the stock cooler, fingers crossed the it will fit fine with the other rad in and the waterblock.

780 stripped, Thermal pads cut (was a ball ache applying TIM to both sides of the pads.) Just finishing cleaning the factory TIM off the die before a fresh blob of MX-4

Block on, much prefer the look and quality of the Aquacomputer blocks though.

A few cables braided, more to come on those...

Cant believe you got £300 for the 7950, nice one.

I have a dilemma of sorts, my 7970 lightning hasnt got a block and so cant be watercooled, top of that is due for RMA (issues with random flickering tearing).

I then went ahead bout a matrix platinum to crossfire. The matrix has a block and so I'll be stuck with 1 aircooled gpu and 1 watercooled. I suppose I'll live with it.

Or if im bothered try what you did, sell online.

Anyways nice rig!

Yeah I'd definitely recommend getting your 7970's gone. Just be sure to send them signed for and insured if using the bay (£25ish per card) then you could be looking at a 780/Ti too :)

You'll have to stick a build log up as I'm toying with the idea of cramming a 360 in mine

I've unlocked the voltage on the 780, benched it at 1381/1802 quite happily with max temps of 41*C

Nice, I'm going water because both gpus are surpassing 80c!

Yeh not heard much good with new AMDs similar prices between both top ranges. So maybe will go Nvidia this time. Not sure when this-time is, i'm not sure whether the hassle of selling on ebay is worth it. I'll wait for the response of the RMA and once I know i have two good cards, i'll consider selling. Although by then i may have just bough the matrix block!

Yeah that's fair enough. I'm impartial to amd/Intel and Nvidia but ultimately I think the intel/Nvidia combo is just a better setup if you can afford it.
I did quite like my 7950 but it just doesn't compare to this 780 :D

Bit of an update...

I've got Nickolp to blame for this!

It's an absolute monster compared to a reference GTX 780!!!

Little did I know but the additional hieght of the card meant that conventioanl 'bridging' of the water loop wouldn't work :(

Which means I've had to do something horrific to join them both up :(

But it works... christ knows why I needed such a powerful internet browser :D

Just waiting for my custom cable set from Davido now :)

Great looking build non the less, shame about the Frankenstein offspring that is that waterloop :( but as long as it keeps the cards cool it's all good.

Going to assume a small piece of tubing wont bridge the gap due to the differences in outlets/inlets.

looking good luke, bet you dont have trouble maxing games now!!!

using 4 90's you could do the below pic, 5 second paint doodle, very lame!! but you get the idea

Yeah that's not a bad shout actually Nick.

I'm getting 100-130FPS in farcry 3!
Huge over kill on my 60Hz monitor, seriously considering selling one. But then if I kept this pair, they'd be good for several years...

Just get the 144hz 1440p ASUS monitor when it is released. That'll give your 780s something to think about. Clearly you need to spend more money to make the money you've already spent not seem like a waste of money ;)
