okay guys I'm hoping someone can help and put the pieces together

I have so many problems on my new pc

I recently built a new pc, using the old HDD from my old pc, I have deleted all partitions and done a clean installation of windows 7 on it (multiple times now)

specs:
RAM: G Skill 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333mhz Ripjaws

GPU: nvidia GTX 570

CPU: Intel 3rd Generation Core i5-3570K

MOBO: Asus P8H61-M PRO REV 3.0

HDD: (salvaged from old build) Western Digital WD5000AAKS 500GB SATAII 7200RPM 16MB Cache

PSU: (salvaged from old build) ICute AP-700AS (700w)

case: antec 302

cooling: Corsair CWCH60 Water Cooler

and i have had so many problems
heres a list of the many problems i have had:
- turning my pc on the first time is when i realised something is ****ed, it would turn off after 3 seconds and restart, this would continue on and on at the same the the red light indicating something wrong with my memory would light up

- having used the MEMok! button on my motherboard i managed to get my pc started, it would go all the way to the windows screen before freezing and showing a blue screen with the error "PAGE FAULT IN NON-PAGED AREA" again another RAM problem

- these two problems still happen to me very often every time i turn my pc off and on it will continue to restart itself then randomly stop and go all the way to desktop

- i'm actually currently using my pc now to type this.

- my pc wont install updates it will get stuck at 0% downloading, installing or configuring updates, i can't even update my net framework...

I was hoping someone can pinpoint the problem, at the moment I am pretty sure its the RAM but i cant seem to be 100% sure because it is BRAND NEW!?

many thanks in advance!
Tommy

Sounds like a faulty memory module, have you tried removing one module and seeing if you get problems? If you do, swap them over, that could help rule out the faulty module.

Memory is one of the most likely parts to become faulty and yes you do get faulty parts from new.

You could try running Memtest86+ from a USB stick and test the modules individually. You can get it here: http://www.memtest.org/#downiso (the one listed as new boots from a USB stick).

the problem is that the problems I get are so random, that I have tried what you've suggested but sometimes the problems just dont occur?

however I will go away and quickly test this again

thank you :)

I'd suggest memtesting the modules then, could take a few hours but at least you can rule out the memory as the source of the problem. Memtest both at the same time if you get any errors, shut down, remove one module, retest. If that one passes a full test swap the modules over and test the other module.

if you can't find the faulty stick then let us know what the 12V part of the psu has written on it for Amps because icute is disgusting in every single way

Check if you MB has the latest BIOS version. Then try to boot with only 1 memory dimm in; but test them both.

looks like the power supply tbh, can you get another PSU and run some tests on that.

PS I dont like the power supply and cannot find it on there website, is it discontinued ?
get some people in the forums to recommend you a power supply around 800 watts plus etc.

Kenneth.

I'd say it could be the PSU... I certainly wouldn't trust all that kit with that PSU. You'll likely need something 600-800w for that setup, from a decent manufacturer.

You might be able to pin-point it as the PSU if you pull the GTX570, use the onboard GPU on the i5 which should sigificately reduce the power draw. If the problems go away then its likely the PSU.

+1 on that good choice :-)

Yeah it has done 1 pass almost finished the 2nd pass so no problems there I will have to get myself a new psu then! Can anyone suggest one please?

And yes that psu is discontinued, the only reason I got it was because web I built my old pc I wanted to get it working ASAP and due to that ended up getting a bad psu, but that was my fault haha :) thanks everyone though for your help!
