My car is no more

Good to hear you're ok!
Funnily enough my old man just bought one of these cars this week! same colour, same model, same spec, same everything except being a 2002!

How did you find the car?

Spooky :o

what a nutter just

u will be able to afford a *** car once u get you're compensaton

No more VTEC! :(

Well it wasn't really a vtec to begin with was it.. Ok ok honda stick the badge on the car and the engine, but it doesn't have the same cam changeover like a propper vtec does at 6krpm...

Still, bloody nice car though m8, real shame it's ended up like that.
You thinking Accord Type R or DC5 next then? depending on the finances I guess.
Also glad your not that seriously injured! still, it must hurt like hell sitting up every morning. Not exactly the best way to get a new motor.

I loved it, not the quickest from 0-60mph but once your going the VTEC is great, mrs thought i looked/sounded like a boy racer though.
She looked stunning aswell. Remove the plastic Honda jobbies from the alloys tho.

I can just imagine my dad going "VTEC JUST KICKED IN YOOOOOOOOOO *coughs* OOOOOOOO" :p

Just to say hope you feel better each day,

and

Ream the Transit Drivers insurance for every penny you deserve.

Remember to keep all the receipts for painkillers, taxis and other stuff you need/use as part of your recuperation. Your lawyer / insurance company will need them.

Claim for everything you lost in the collision, I lost a changer full of CD's that the scrappy wouldn't let me remove. (And a coat the airbags burned the arms of..)

Oh and make sure the loss adjuster doesn't try to pay you too little for your car.

Looks like a pretty serious accident there and glad you're ok mate.
I also thought that the VTEC engines were purely for economy. I thought the engines which picked up in the high revs were only found in the Type-R's?

There's nothing economical about an NSX.

quote from wiki:

VTEC was initially designed to increase the power output of an engine to 100 ps/liter or more while maintaining practicality for use in mass production vehicles. Some later variations of the system were designed solely to provide improvements in fuel efficiency, or increased power output as well as improved fuel efficiency.

They forgot that part in my car. I average 20-25mpg when taking it easy.

It's unkillable.

Goes back in May thank ****.

/closes eyes and clicks heels together - nope, it's still parked outside.

/tries again - nope, still there.

I need a front end respray to get rid of my stone chips, fancy driving into the front of my car? Might be difficult to do enough damage to write the Passat off but not my car though :(

No it's "normal" under VTEC, and slightly more eager at higher revs, but it's still mostly on par with normal 16V engines. It is VTEC-E though for economy, so it gets a little breathless at really high revs as opposed to the twin cam VTEC screamers that keep on going. As a result it develops 147bhp as opposed to nearer 135-140 in the average 2L family saloon engine. Averages about 32mpg for me with mixed town and motorway driving.

Still a lovely smooth engine though that does pull well from lower revs.

(This applies to my 2L VTEC Acccord but the 1.8 isn't far off)

Simple - Passat lightly swipes front bumper on its way into a nearby lamp-post.
