Good stuff, I operate a CNC saw/drill line for a living, here's 'my' little beasty:

Yes, that is OcUK on a window infont of the Ficep Mitrol control software :D

I never knew you were in engineering chap. What do you manufacture?

My first job entailed of working in the QA dept on a CMM :). Loving the net on the screen :)

It's just structural steelwork, I program/operate several machines but this is the one I'm mainly infront of. The other machines are a similar but older Peddinghaus TDK saw/drill line, a Peddinghaus FDB 1500 Profiling machine (Plasma cutting head, it also punches holes in up to 30mm thick steel plate), and a Peddinghaus FPB 600 Profiling machine (Oxy/propane cutting head and 3 drill heads, this is for thicker plate, up to ~80mm thick).

We basically produce giant mechano kits :D

Beats working in an office. I miss the banter :)

im a waterjetter , cuts through just about anything upto maybe 300mm steel the waterpressure is 60000psi plus abrasive is added for metals , i draw the part up from a technical drawing on Alpahacam save as a dxf then use the dxf with the machines own flowcut software adding tool paths ect , grat machine as no heat is used on the part ,damn noisy though:)

Awesome for getting crud off my alloys :D

Anyone here got access to a laser cutter and can help me out making parts for robots? I have the DXF files ready to go!

BTW OP awesome! I have to make myself a CNC machine soon :-)

email in trust.

Ta.

ok just an update not much news but will have more ater weekend.

ive now orderd and should be getting me power supplies tomorrow so over weekend im gonna be wiring it up on me desk and check it works with no load.

Hi, just wondering how you got on with this? Did it all work in the end?

I'm tempted to build something similar but I'm not really sure where to start...

Do you know where to get threaded bar that is longer than 1 metre?

a cnc machine is used for cutting metals into different designs that can be loaded onto the computers. They are great for designing computer side panels and then cutting them out without having the burn marks if it was done by a laser
