It'll come on, and then drop, and then come back on again. Very annoying. What the hells going on?

Even when trying to go to the settings (192.168.blah) it'll load quickly one second and then timeout (get dropped) again. It was happening a week or two ago but then sorted itself out but now it's doing it again. I want to play some Diablo 3. :(

Just sounds like you are using a busy frequency on your router, Change it. I'd be more specific but I'm ******, Sorry.

Move the pc to the wireless box, sit the wireless box on the pc... Does the issue persist?

If it does it's a hw issue (unlikely) if it does not its signal strength or interfeerance...

A bit of overkill moving the pc really,
Move the router to the pc,
Ok you will not be able to get internet access but the OP said in his first post he cant even get in to the router page.

So move the router to the pc, leave the dsl cable where is it just move the rotuer and the power unit plug them in and try to browse to the router page and browse about the router pages for a bit.

If the connection is stable then its just a wireless issue.

Do the following command on a windows based system to check what is the best wireless channle number to use,

Code:
Netsh Wlan Show All

You will get a load of information like this :

Code:

As you can see most of the networks are on channle 1 so you pick a channle away from this i would say 13

Fingers crossed you get sorted soon man.

Ah, ****. I'm a muppet, mines connected via a wire, for some reason i thought i mentioned it.

Wireless on my phone and my mums PC works fine but mine on the wire is temperamental. It's actually a bit better this morning but i know it'll muck up again making it very annoying to try and use.

If your computer is wired it might be the cable or the port both on the router and computer,
Most computers these days come with 2 eathernet ports so try the other one, also change the port on the router, if you have another cable change that also.

I only have the one port on my PC and i've tried it in all 4 ports on the router. My mums (w actually started complaining of the same problem now, but she's on wireless. (it going on and off again).

It was working fine for about 2 hours but i turned my computer off for a bit, turned it back on and it's started doing it again.

It's a BTHomehub2.

It's not getting hot.

And that's the thing, when the net goes down for those few seconds, i can't locate it at 192.168.blah.blah.

:(

I just pinged my router a few times.

It goes like....

Request timed out
Successful
Successful
Successful

Then it's
Request timed out
Request timed out
Successful
Request timed out

Or

Request timed out
Request timed out
Request timed out
Request timed out

Or

Successful 4 times.

Eugh. So frustrating.

See if you can get another router to test for a hour or so,
To me that looks to be the router,
If it was only your pc then i would say get the pc checked but as its happening on your mums system also points towards the router.

Yeah i'm fairly sure it's the router myself but i can't get hold of another one to test. My mum actually wants to move away from BT 'cause they are charging too much but my little area in South Wales is quite limited in options and with a lot of my work being done on the net i can't really afford to be without it for a week or two during swapover.

Just thought I'd put it out there, but you've done a factory reset of the router right?

Also you should be able to blag a Homehub 3 from BT if you phone up.

I haven't this time round, but i did when it was doing it a few months back and it didn't fix anything. I'll give it a go now though. Wish me luck!

Also, how do i go about "blagging" one? They are like £50 brand new.

Say it's completely dead. Whatever they make you do, say no lights come up or anything.

When I phoned up to get a HH3 (from HH2) due to issues having to it not being able to handle concurrent connections very well, I was actually told by a BT employee (Infinity technical support) over the phone to do this, once they transferred me over to the relevant person for testing.
