My dad has gone missing

ALC, has your Dad left any computers behind? If you are able to log into such machine and he has an instant chat client (MSN etc), most modern clients record chat logs by default. Could hold some clues if he's used it.

I hope he is found safe and well.

I don't have many followers on Twitter, but I've retweeted this info. Also shared the OcUK post on facebook.

Ever thought he doesn't want to be found? I mean you say yourself you have not spoke for years, were he and his wife(Not your Mum I presume and were you talking with her over the last years?) getting on?
Also I would not take my phone if I did not want to be traced.
I wish for the very best outcome for you all, despite my bluntness?

Good luck with this, must be a terrible time for you and your family right now. Sometimes blokes at this age just need time out, so don't think the worst and try and remain positive.

For what it's worth I live in Sussex and tomorrow I'm doing a few outings around that area tomorrow - will keep my eyes open mate.

Heart goes out to you and your family, best of luck with finding him.

My Dad went missing in 1986 with no explanation because when my Mum got home from work he'd packed and gone.
It then got a bit scarey because he had booked 2 weeks holidays from work and for a week he hadn't been in touch.
I put an ad in our local paper and the next thing he rings me and explained that he had to get away fom my mum becaue she was driving him crazy but he wouldn't let me know where he was for about a month.
I hope it's something as simple as that OP.

Thanks everyone. Yeah I understand that he may not want to be found, but at least if anyone spots him I'll know he's still alive!

No updates as yet then A[L]C?

Any trails, sightings, contact or anything from the police?

Keep things positive friend, it is often the most simple of explanations/crossed wires with missing people.

Let's hope he's blissfully unaware, sunning himself somwwhere!

My friend went through something similar with his Dad a few years ago. His Dad just needed some time to get his head straight. Got back in touch a few weeks later. He lived in Peacehaven too.

A couple of ideas for you, although I wasn't sure if I should even mention these because they might cause more stress, but I'll leave that decision up to you:

- If you think he might be checking his email but you don't have access to his account, an alternative to sending a read receipt email is to send one with a unique image and link url in it that no one else will visit. If the web servers logs shows someone visiting that page then there's a good chance it was him (especially if there was some delay since his mail host may immediately scan url's contained in emails). If you decide you want to do this and need help, let me know and I'll get a url for you I can monitor.

- If you want every oap in Peacehaven looking out for him, pop into the co-op in the Meridian Centre and put a notice up on their board.

I'm sure he'll speak to you soon. All the best.

You would have though the police could find him with their numberplate cameras everywhere. Not that i'd expect he wants to be found if he didn't take his phone.

I'm sure he is fine though OP. Hang tight and Gl.
