My discounts break Virgin Media's computer system!

I plan of trying my best to get 50mb tomorrow, any tips?

I'm currently on 20mb for £25pm with no other services, will of had it for 12months in July and will be moving house around the time the 12months are up.

EDIT: Also anyone know the number to phone for broadband relocation etc.? Obviously I'm not calling their generic 0870 number!

Dial 150 and pick "moving House"
Can you get 50Mb at your new address?

Considering swapping to virgin media with a staff deal at work..

33 pounds for:

20mb broadband
phone line - unlimited free land line calls
TV XL
Virgin HD Box and an extra box.

O2 do 600 minutes and 1000 texts and unlimited internet for £20 a month sim only without any discounts, if your not using all those minutes/texts then it could save you £156 a year.

I definately use them, last 2 months my bill has been over £55 because I went over my minutes to much.

My GF is also on 3, so it's a good deal considering I call her the most.

Plus, I'm already in a contract, and I've found 3's mobile internet service to be the best by far. I've tried 02's mobile internet, and 2 friends also have iPhone contracts, and the internet on my iPhone with 3 is the best by far in speed and reliability.

I get a nice healthy 2.4Mb download rate on my iphone, and I use my iphone for tethering to my laptop to get internet on that. :D

I keep thinking I should try and wrangle a good price to upgrade to Virgin 50 Mb, but then I come to my senses that 20 Mb is plenty. Got some kind of multiple discount package already.

That's some impressive discounting going on :D - luckily I'm not with Virgin Media anymore since I got an ok deal with o2 (9.99 or so for Pro package)

can I just clarify when I said I can save money on your sky bills

To the fair few guys who emailed me

I work for sky, so I need your current packages and Prices, and then I can see how much ££ I can save you:)

E-Mailed you just now ;)

Edit, Thanks for the quick reply already :o

I've been wanting to upgrade our internet as it's a pitiful 2mb :(

Should I phone them and say something like Sky offered me a better deal and see what they can do/tell them I want to cancel in order to get faster internet for little/no money?

Haha nah they'll just try to convince you that sky throttle on the max package after 600mb like they were trying to do to me on Thursday when I was cancelling everything. Didn't even try to offer discounts or anything just tried to say that constantly.

to clarify, sky don't throttle on any package, and our max package has no download limits

Yeah I know that Da_mic that's why I almost got in an argument with Virgin about it lol, he was adamant about it, but I wasn't budging. If it was any other customer that doesn't know much about it though I think they would have talked them into staying, Using buzz words like Fibre, no throttling, no caps e.t.c

Made me laugh so much, I had to explain that 2 episodes on Iplayer sent my Virgin connection to crap, glad we're finally getting everything from Sky.

Also mailed you too da_mic :)

we told them we wanted our internet cheaper or we would leave. they wouldnt comply so we errr left. it then took them 9 months for them to realise wed not been disconnected and had been getting free internet... they then sent us a letter offering the cheap internet we wanted in the first place. madness

I left 12 months ago, and now my xbox has a dedicated 10mb line cos it still works lol

Was paying £65 a month for XL everything + anonymous caller reject.

A workmate's missus works at VM so she's sorted me out with a few discounts.

Now got V+, extra box, XL everything amd anonymous caller reject for £35 a month!!

anyone need £££ off their sky bill, email me
I cancelled instead. Now they want me back half price for six months. I'm tempted to give them a call next week and try and negotiate a newer box too on the grounds that discount aside I'm effectively paying for services I can't receive (I've got a Mk1 Sky+ box).

Since I'm paying £30 pcm without Sky, I was going to move to Virgin, but I'm worried how often I'd fall foul of their caps. :(

Some good skills there. Wish I could get that with sky, having to pay £60 for full sky package, 8mb broadband, and my phoneline (inc rental) is a lot.

I phoned Virgin today as we were paying £37 a month for 20mb broadband and £11 line rental; we've been paying that since it launched. I told them about their website saying it's £20 a month with a virgin line rental, but they said that was for new customers only and the price would be £37 for them after that period. I said it clearly states they'll pay £10 for the first 3 months and then only £20 after that. She said the small print says £37. I told her I couldn't see it and the smaller print only said £20. She stuck me on hold, then came back and quoted a price she said she managed to get for us, I pointed out she just matched the price on the website exactly. So no real discounts but I'm happy that we're saving a lot from what we had been paying. But they made it clear that we're now with them for another 12 month contract.
