As above really! (Just to balance the stellar overclocks some others are getting!)

From the Bios (Updated to F3 by the way), it won't budge from the stock FSB no matter what I do with voltages or RAM dividers.

I can get it to 2.1 Ghz with the Gigabyte easytune software in Windows, and it scores a 26sec 1M PI result.

Back at stock and using my usual benchmarks, it scores approx 15% higher than my old Pentium D940 which was overclocked to 3.7Ghz, which is ok I guess.

Havings said that, I'm glad I didn't spend a fortune changing to the chip! Games performance should take a boost though.

I think it could be my RAM holding me back, or something else I haven't worked out yet!

Edit: Any advice more than gratefully received!! ;)

Thats what I thought!

Even with the FSB at 300Mhz, and the divider at 2.00, which gives a RAM speed of only 500mhz, on exiting the Bios it just beeps twice and then restarts a couple of times before booting at stock FSB and CPU speed.

It's almost like it won't save the changes?

Just had it up to 2.3Ghz using the easy tune app in Windows, and it was fine. This showed the RAM running at nearly 800Mhz so I'm not sure what's going on.

I've also done a fresh install of windows and the chipset drivers in case it was a legacy of my old setup, but still the same.

F3 is the latest one on the Gigabyte website.

I'm just going to try the latest chipset drivers, although I think it's more of a bios problem....

Ram speed of 500mhz? is that total? as DDR2 667 is 333mhz so that would be a pretty big gap... or am i being stupid? :o

sounds like a settting in your bios not right if you ask me
post what your bio sceen says under the (M.I.T)
and i might be able to help you
i am not a expert coming from amd but this gigabyte does look very dif. from what i have been used to.But still had no problems setting it up run 458 FSB wich sits my E6300 Nicely at 3.2 at stock.

I'am also having problems overclocking my E6300 with my DS3. Although not quite as bad as those problems. Yesterday i could hit 3.1Ghz got a super pi of 18 sec 1M although today most i can do is 2.5Ghz. At 2.6 i get Memory issues on super pi. When i check the memory timing in everesrt and cpuz it says its running at cas3 when in fact it should be ddr 800 at cas 5 and yes i have changed the latency in the bios. Was also getting some very hot North bridge 58 idle strapped a 40mm fan to it though and now down to 44 load.

What are your memory timings and voltages on PCI-E, GMCH and frontside bus.

Hi,

Is this a DS3 or a DS4? Also, what memory are you using?

Cheers

Rob

Cpu host clock control= Enabled
Cpu host Frequency(mhz) = 458
PCI Express =100
C.I.A.2 =Disabled
System memory multiplier= 2.0
pci-e voltage +0.1
FSB Voltage +0.1
(G)MCH Voltage +0.1
Rest at stock.

Sorry I've been away a while-just had to reinstall windows after a missing ntldr error on my drive!!

Anyway. my settings are the same as Pizzaboys, except my FSB won't shift past stock!!

My Ram is Corsair Value DDR2 (667Mhz), if that's any help?

I've now run a complete set of the Custom PC benchmarks, and my old 940 at 2.7Ghz was scoring 1.17 overall, and my E6300 at stock is scoring 1.49, so I'm pretty pleased with that!

It's not a bad speedboost for the cost of £30 after selling my old CPU and Mobo! :)

Would be so much faster though if I could get the same overclock as some of our buddies on here! :(

I'm @ 333FSB & stock volts with my 6300 but its not stable. What kind of FSB speeds are people getting to before they need to put some more volts through the chip? 310FSB is stable, more playing tomorrow I think...

You'd be suprised how good DDR2 clocks, including the "value" kits. So long as its a decent brand (eg Corsair\Geil\Samsung) it will manage 100-150mhz (eg 667->800) above stock with some voltage. Think Anandtech did a round-up on this..
