My exit e-mail....

Subject: I'm leaving...

"Nooooooooooooo!" I hear you all cry.

Well i've been at (company) for a little over two years now and I've met some great people in my time here, along with a couple of odd bods (just one actually....Helen).

It's been a great experience working for (company) and i've learn't a fair few bits along the way.

Whilst still remaining within IT, you'll be pleased to hear I'm not sodding off to a competitor. I'm joining a large construction company called (new company).

My last working day is the 25th September so as per (company) tradition, i'd like to invite you all over to the Millers at 12:30.

If any of you wish to keep in touch my msn and personal e-mail address is ****@****.com

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Would any of you find this offensive if this was sent around your work place?

See you there ;)

I don't think we can really comment because no one knows the culture of your workplace, while that would be accepted in my office, the last job i worked at you would have been removed from the premises

But it's alright for you to watch Back to the Future trilogies on your iPod and post on here during your work day Will?

(We know eachother BTW).

Rich

I've kept all leaving emails from the companies I've worked.

Mostly just 'good working with you and good here's my email address' kinda stuff, but when I worked the helpdesk at Churchill Insurance my then manager sent a corker of an email to the team and his management. Really offensive stuff about all the backstabbing that goes on by particular individuals. He then had top IT boss calling him all afternoon whilst we were in the pub saying our goodbyes. As much as it made me cringe he was answering, then just hanging up. Obviously not professional at all, but we were drunk and it was a good crack at the time.

The following Monday was a very odd day indeed. Turns out the back stabbing was true. Well it certainly showed for the one of us (team of 12) that got his job.

Anyway you can't go wrong with the leaving email you've written

Why are you worried about posting an e-mail? Who cares if you offend someone who you're never going to see again.

I'm more offended that you had to ask people's opinions about it.
