Hi guys
Just bought my first ever ATI card, a powercolour X850XT.
I could do with some advice on what drivers to get, where to get them from and overclocking techniques, if you could please

www.ati.com and the latest drivers, or you could get the Omega sets which are tweaked slightly.

ATi Tool for overclocking (has an artifact scanner you can use to test)
ATi Tray Tools for settings etc.

I think that's about it :)

google search for omega drivers, they are pretty good, get the latest ones.

for voercloking google search atitool, download and install, just click find max mem speed and then max core speed, and your done!!

oh and btw, welcome to the revolution :):)

cheers guys, cant wait untill tuesday to get my hands on it, sick of the old 5900 juddering in cs:source :)
Any ideas what sort of overclocks people are getting with these cards?

As said the card should clock to at least xt pe speeds, my asus x850xt runs fine at speeds in sig. Use ati tool or ati tray tools to overclock not the Catalyst Control Centre. Also check fans settings in ati tool/tray tools as some have poor stock fan settings leading to high temps, just have a play with the setpoints to get temps and quietness to suit.

Personally, i use the Omegas instead of the Catalysts, they come without the bloat and are a bit more poweruser friendly.

i'm lookin to get this card next week maybeX800 GTO2 Rip Off

Would there really be any performance increase in getting the omega drivers to a noob like me who will prob only really use the Ati Tool to get max clock speeds & then leave it at that or should i just stick with the ATI 6.2 drivers ?

Just got the latest Omega drivers, driver cleaner professional, and ATI tool. Can't wait to get my hands on it, what is the stock cooling like? is it worth getting some 3rd party cooler ?

Do a google for the Pencil Volt Mod. Scribble on the resistor for a few seconds (4B Pencil) and watch the clocks sore.

May require more effcient cooling. ;)
