My First Experience on a Bike...

no where near the same league as the litre bikes but coming from a Honda shadow cruiser to a Yamaha FZ6 Fazer with it's R6 engine was just insane.

it just loves to be revved, the thrill of being on a good smooth back road with plenty of twistys, warm weather and no traffic is unbeatable.

People have no idea about the level of performance a sport bike has..

My mate in work was always dissing bikes, he had a Saxo VTS that had slaughtered many bikes down b-roads apparantly..

He tried to follow me down a well known local b-road after work, and I just left him for dead, what surprised him was that through reasonably long tight corners he was struggling to keep up.. so I took him out for a quick blast on the back, and that was it, DAS test passed 3 months later, and he's been converted ever since..

Another thing that always makes me laugh. Most people would even dream of driving a 150+BHP car without ABS, traction control etc :) Most bikers wouldnt dream of riding a bike WITH traction control and ABS :)

I dream of riding a particular bike with ABS, but not because it has ABS :). In fact I already ride a bike with ABS, never had it kick in though. Come to think of it, don't the MotoGP bikes have traction control? Don't tell me you wouldn't dream of riding one of them :p.

My first time on a bike was when my mate had to pick me up in town in the summer.

I could hear it before I saw it, he'd changed the exhaust (dont ask me what).

Was a Suzuki SV 650 S?

I dont have a clue about bikes or whether it's decent.

Fairly quick on the lights though.

I was using the grip behind me, in shorts and t-shirt. At the traffic lights and wasn't paying attention.... I've never held onto something so hard in my life, I almost came off the back.

Trust me, after that I made sure I was paying attention.

edit. didnt realise how quick bikes can be, spec for the SV 650 S =

0-30 mph 1.34 sec.
0-60 mph 3.20 sec.
0-90 mph 6.79 sec.
0-100 mph 8.76 sec.

No offence, but you went on the back of a back in shorts and a t-shirt?.

I don't even nip half a mile down the shops unless I'm fully kitted out including a back protector.

Had to drive my brother new bike home yesterday (Honda VT125 Shadow) as he has no idea how to ride it. All I had was a helmet, short-sleved shirt, jeans and trainers. Didn't like it all. Thankfully was only 10min trip.

Was a nice day though, luckily.

Edit// Bikers were going past me and I bet they were saying to them selves "What a ****".

Tell me about it!!!

The only thing I pondered is why I had not done it sooner!!! :D

How are you getting on with the Factory?. You registered over on the RSV Bikers Oracle forums or the RSV Zone forums yet?.

I'm on rsvr.net and apriliaforums.com

I love the Factory. It's just so preceise and has more power than I can use. I was having a discussion with a GSXR1000 rider the other day and we both agreed that a normal rider would be quicker on the RSV due to the more predictable power delivery despite being 40bhp down.

Also has the added bonus of everywhere I go, people want to talk about it, find out what it is and hear the shotguns fire :)

Probably. :p

I dunno, as I said, not getting at anyone but I've seen guys come off bikes in jeans and a leather jacket and their legs have been ripped to shreds.

I, many, many years ago also came off in a huge accident and I only had jeans on at the time. If I had been wearing proper kit, I might not to have had to spend almost a year off work.

I guess it's just a biker mentality thing, although you still see the odd muppet now and again with t-shirts and shorts actually riding large capacity bikes, especially in the summer. I spotted one skyrocket a few weeks ago who was actually riding in shorts and a pair of flip-flops on a Kawasaki ZX-9R.

I love v twins, nothing can prepare you for the drive out of corners... you dont need peak bhp numbers either. My old TLR was a animal with 'only' 120 at the wheel.

Miss the noise as well :( ..and wheelies, oh man, just ride out the surge of torque
