well i finally remembered to check if 9.4 was out, it was, so decided to upgrade.

Obviously i've had a new PC lately but thought it'd still be ok.

When it's running the initiating sequence it stop a third of the way through (top bar) and just hangs. I went and watch some tv for almost an hour and it still never moved. Tried this twice and the same results.

Anyone know if this is a known issue or how to fix it?

Some people are lucky and can just install over the top, others aren't.

Normally I remove my drivers from the Add/Remove programs, reboot, then run Drivercleaner (Driver Sweeper would also work), then install the new ones. :)

I expect that's the problem - it doesn't like going "on top".

i've normaly never had any problems before.

now i'm receiving a message in safe mode stating "failed to load detection driver"

can anyone help with this?

It's not letting me install any CCC or Display Drivers for my 4870.
It gets to the stage where it is analyzing but hangs. I left it for four hours today and still nothing. uninstalled CCC through driver sweeper. didn't work so had to use system restore.

I've removed .Net framework and reinstalled. update C++.
run in safe mode still no joy so other than doing a complete reinstal of Vista i'm not sure what to try next

Found this on another forum

Try this:

Reboot, (if experiencing the black screen problem, keep hitting F8 and then select to boot into low resolution mode)

Download the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86) from here (or the x64 version from here).

Install either of the above.

Then install the latest ATI drivers.

The "failed to load detection driver" Error Message should be gone.

Do u have visual studio installed by anychance?

Mom Implementation error is when the drivers havn't been properly uninstalled, so running the ATi Catalyst Install Manager from the Add/Remove, and telling it to Uninstall everything should sort it out and allow you to start installing drivers again.

Have you also tried previous drivers again, not just the 9.4's, and have you also tried installing the Driver the Device Manager way, but if you get the 9.3's on, and you don't have a 4890, then id just stick with them until the 9.5's, as the 9.4's are just an official set for those, as ATi just wanted to get an official set out for them.

From another one....

Error Message:

Cause

Remove all ATI software from Programs and Features section (i.e. Catalyst Install Manager).
Go to registry and remove any ATI entries left under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software

(NOTE - click on the first GUID/Long_Number in the list and use the arrow key on the keyboard to go to the next. Look at the right side DisplayName = ATI or something simular)
Check for any ATI entries under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products look at each GUID and the InstallProperties key, look at the Display Name for any ATI entry, if found remove the whole GUID.

Now browse to C:\Windows\INF and remove any OEM#.inf (ie OEM0.inf, OEM1.inf, OEM3.inf) and the corresponding OEM#.pnf files that reference ATI. You look only in the OEM#.inf file. The first few lines in the OEM#.inf file will say ATI if it is related to ATI otherwise, leave the file and prceed to the next one.
Next remove the C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia Center folder and C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies folders if present.
Restart and reinstall Catalyst Control Suite

cheers for the replies guys really appreciate it.

Wilderbeast, i hadn't seen that one before so i shall try that tonight.
If it doesn't work i shall do a fresh install as if it doesn't work for 9.4 it wont work on 9.5.

i had also tried 9.1, 9.2 & 9.3 with the same result.

fingers crossed i can get this to work.

well i've sorted it.

went into add/remove programmes and the only option for ATI was repair.

Pressed this once. Appeared to do nothing so pressed again.
I then highlighted ATI again and now ther was an option to change or repair.
pressed change and an install manager popped up with: Uninstal specific parts, Repair or Uninstall everything.

So i pressed repair and it ran through repairing the registry and everything else which was wrong.

Tried CCC 9.4 again and guess what :D:D it worked

thank crunchie for that
