Agreed.

K2 with only one fan keeps mine below 66°C (peak temp of single hottest core) @4.5ghz with around 1.36v in prime (auto voltage coz I'm lazy).

Get a 7850, some good ones on offer for £150 or if you can wait a little i'm sure you would be able to pick up a 7950 for £200
 
As is often the case, change of plans with upgrades.
Didn't get my xmas bonus unfortunately and won't be able to afford the juicey sapphire 7950 I had my eye on.
Hopefully I'll have enough left over xmas to afford the ssd at a more affordable £80
 
re-seated my cpu with some quality paste.

made no difference to the temps!

i'm slightly concerned as my pc has started being slightly unpredictable; a couple of system crashes and also double post problem.

i should probably wack the speed down again.

backpayment of xmas bonus due at the end of Jan allegedly - possibly purchase a gfx then

I'll need to remember that for the graphics card. Finally I've got the cash, but need to make a decision on which one to go for...

really don't know whether to spend the extra and get one that begins with 79....

also I'm debating the option of a 16:10 monitor. been doing a lot of reading and the sensible option would actually to go for a 1080. I'm going to have to go to a shop so I can physical compare them both.
 
I say 'go for' a 1080. I've already got one. I am going to invest in a tv set in the near future though so perhaps I look to get something with the extra pixels then.
Right now I should really finish off my pc, been planning it far too long
 
Now I have invested in a series 3 twin frozr and my system is ****ing dope! :D
I was careful installing it, but still the wires are posing difficulties - I cannot fix the back case shut yet, where I'm normally tucking away all those loose and untidy ends.

Tbh the last week I've just been enjoying gaming :D Planetside mostly. Epic, epic mmo madness in a stunning digital environment. Lasers, spaceships, trench warfare, all that pixellated goodness and sonic mayhem. The whole game, on first few tries, seems to be just one colourful fps grind and not a whole lot more. It's a good game to get started on to showcase the new gfx tho, and I'll be happy taking part in the interstellar grind for a few weeks yet.

looks like youve had more than a few troubles during the build,but im sure you will be relieved its done now,im currently saving maniacally for a xmas build which will be my first ever,hope i get done as well you have
 
How do you find the Z9+ for dust?

I find I keep having to hoover mine every other week despite it not being kept on the floor, no pets or anything with the same fan set up.

cheers dude. it's definitely worth it if your into your computers. even if your not a serious enthusiast, by building your own you get both miles more bang for buck + you learn something. also a lot of ppl (none of which you'll find on o/c ;p) can be impressed by 'making your own computer'. i certainly proud of mine :)
not to detract from the fact it took me a big financial commitment and a lot of patience, reading etc. one thing i could have used more of is patience, which would seem odd in a way, given it's taken me so long to get it to the level i needed it for. but yeah, take your time and ask questions when u need to and don't rush into any part of it (notably the purchasing part). i started asking questions on here when i needed and that was all the support i needed.
 
@NoustieChris i've only ever hoovered it once, and that was last week before the gfx card arrived :) i cleaned out the fans one time too, about 10months ago?
to be fair i cant really say how the z9+ does as ive not anything to compare it to.
hoovering bi-weekly does sound a lot though. one of those areas thats open for debate; how much is too much dust?!
i did hear that the z9+ was a stand up medium case which offered good options for ventilation though. i'd say having to hoover it bi-weekly should is more effort than what should e needed.
 
To do list;
Check overclock settings
Upload photos
Get the system 'housed' properly. This mainly involves sorting the cables out and perhaps will involve paying for it at the shop down the road.

At present;
CPU multiplier: 38
CPU voltage: 1.16
DRAM: 1.55

I will re set to factory to settings on the bios as the system double posts frequently. Much less frequently since I lowered the multi to 38 (it was at 46 but blue screen a couple months back so I lowered it as can't thinl what else would have caused it.)
