My first SFF build

Quick question for you DreXel - did you have to modify the mounting plate for your H50? Just doing some reading and there are quite a lot of people out there saying the plate fouls a component on the bottom of the board... :(

I have almost the exact same build after reading this drexel!

I will be following you an getting a h50 and a 260 in there, do you know if the cyclone version would be much better than that card? As in temps/noise?

Have you experemented replacing the stock H50 with something else?

Did the GFX increase temps much? What are they like now?

thanks

Ive had the cyclone and it was far from quiet, ive got the gigabyte one now and it is vitually silent, especially when browsing etc etc

I didn't mod mine, no. I have since read about the issue of it fouling components underneath, but I did mine before I had even read about any issues and it's been fine. If I were to do it again now I would do the mod just to be sure, but I'm not about to take it all apart again :p

Hey,

Thanks for the reply, i'm tempted to (I know its awful) but copy spec straight from this, it all seems to work so well. I have a ps3 as my media centre at the minute but I'm thinking of selling up, going ITX with either an i3 or i5 and using that instead!

New ATI 6 series cards this week, it might well be worth waiting for those before making any solid decisions.

Drexel, out of interest do you run with just the SSD for storage or do you have a bigger, external drive?

Ah cool, good to know it can work without hacking the backplate up. I'll give it a good going over when I get the kit though, nothing a light dremmeling won't fix if it comes to it. :D

Just the SSD, I have the OS, my mainly used apps and a couple of games on it. All my music etc is on my NAS drive.

Sorry, missed that post. Front audio is near the back of the board (I/O panel end) near the PCI-E slot.

Yes, without the H50 you can leave the standard drive cage in place which houses one 2.5" drive and one 3.5" drive.
