Ive been dropped into the deep end and been asked to create a website for an amatuer model.

The only experience I have with web design is usng simple viewer to create galleries and simply designing the look of a site on Photoshop and then sending the image to a guy who makes up the website :p

Sooooo...With zero knowledge of HTML or anything else related, What would be the best way for me to create a website..
Would consist of Home Page, a Gallery and probably a Contact page.

Ive tried 1and1 website builder but the galeries suck. Ideally i'd like to use a seperate gallery progam such as simpleviewer...

If this isnt possible then obviously i'd need to look at using a 'proper' program and learn about coding...:(

Can we see it?

Stelly

Will be one of these models http://paololoraso.com/port/index.html

Dad owns a studio and the models coming in are after a website so this site is just a practice run...

Get a host with mysql, php, and apache/IIS and then use this: http://gallery.menalto.com/

Build the home / contact page in frontpage or dreamweaver....

Such as? 1and1 ?

I have access to Dreamweaver at work, could I build the home page and contact page without much hassle, with me having no prior experience?

Pretty much, yeah.

Coupled up with a few extensions such as any from PVII or maybe a Lightbox affair as far as Galleries go, you could probably knock something up in a few hours if you know what you are doing. Even using some templates could make life easier.

I'm still not sure what you are asking for though, pardon my *blinkers*!!!

Do you have hosting for any site you may get up and running?.

It all depends on what you want the site to be able to do.

Most WYSIWYG site design programs offered from hosting companies are awful and look pretty generic and unprofessional as an end result.

Looking back I suppose there was no definitive question :p

Just wanted some advice on where to get started.. I haven't got a host or domain name or anything..

Just want the website to look pretty minimal yet professional with 2-3 pages at most and to have a nice impacty flash gallery (Which I imagine will be difficult for a beginner?)

Since making this thread ive tried a few demo's of basic website builders and I really wasn't impressed.

Wish I could just make a good looking site on Photoshop and drag it across to the internet :p

well if my my memory works well simpleview is just a question of creating a bit of html, adding the bit of simpleviewer code and then creating some XML to tell it about the photos.

I would also consider Slideshow Pro, http://slideshowpro.net/ which is a bit better IMO and has been professionally developed over the years. Looks cool too.

The only drawback is that it costs £15, whereas Simpleview is free.
