I have been following the thread all the way through. Really good project. :D

Now I don't normally like Golfs, but wow, I love sleepers. Want to sell me it for £20? ;)

Have any idea how much more power you will get when you stop getting det?

Original power target was 210bhp :D I'll be very happy with a safe 250bhp.

No chance, say £25 ;)

Yes, near Caernarfon.

Bangor :p

I hope your coming too the All Types VW show in Bodelwyddan Castle Sunday! http://www.all-types.co.uk/

A few years back we did the drive with a loads of the people that where attending the show, that takes place on the Sat night but is a little random, and then a few of us should be driving down for the show sunday ( current list stood at 450bhp Evo, 350bhp S2, Elise and my vRS with some possible other peeps just going in their run abouts ).

Congratulations Llyr on successfully completing mission impossible. When I saw the bhp graph I thought they'd mixed up the PDF's. Put me on your "request for a spin" list only when you've got your new diff fitted. Don't fancy being passenger in a FWD with standard differential unless you want me to drive..... :D

Well done.

That is a lot of power. What do you think 0-60 would be?

Purely going on the letstourque stats site the 0-60 should be seen in around 5.2s due too the car only weighing around the 1050kg mark  ( thats based on 250bhp ).

Nor me, but it doesn't feel anything like a Golf Mk2 to drive IMO - more like a 205 GTI or a Mk1 Golf GTI (with more grunt of course)

Ooo if it is like a 205 GTI then I can see me loving it! Really enjoyed driving a 205 GTI the few times I have, will be nice with more power though I bet. :D

Llyr, I'll meet you halfway, £22.50! Think of all the stuff you could get with that!

One of many, I'm sure, attracted to this thread from other forums. Registered on purpose to say what an inspiring read it's been, and to wish you well and congratulate you on overcoming all the minor (and some not so minor) obstacles along the way.

Will you be like other project builders, and move on to something new almost as soon as this one's finished?

All the best

Nick

Hi there

Only issue is that site is predicting it times based on good traction levels and been able to get a perfect launch. So if he spends 3s spinning and smoking the tyres then its obviously gonna be longer.

However in a car so lightweight with so much power I'd be more impressed with say what it can do 30-100mph in as I suspect it does that very briskly. :)

Put it this way Si's rover was a quick machine and in theory I'd have thought this would be quicker as I think it weighs less?

Its certainly great work and the effort and skill by the OP is fantastic to do what has been achieved here. :)

does that site take into account that its as aerodynamic as a brick ? :p

there some seriously speedy golfs on you tube , checkout the 300km/h mk 1s :D

Should be, mine was 1150kg I reckon. 260-280bhp depending on boost.

Did anyone video it on the rollers at RR6? It was on there long enough!

I was going to, but the room was pretty packed :(

I only managed to sneak in after the runs to have a look at the engine.

Si, was that all your Rover weighed? How did you shed 80kg?
