My graphics card isn't detecting!

I recently bought a new graphics (Asus GTX 950 strix) and a new power supply (Corsair VS350). I currently have a graphics chip that built into my processor (AMD A8 6600K APU). Firstly I installed the new power supply and then I put in the graphics card, I slotted in the 6-pin connector. I turned on my computer and in dxdiag it told me that it was still using the graphics chip instead of the graphics card. My vga cable is currently plugged into the motherboard, but when I put a hdmi into the graphics card it shows 'no signal' on my monitor. Can anyone please help?
Also my motherboard is a gigabyte GA-F2A55M-HD2

Thanks for replying. I've already tried disabling the chip, but that just turns off the display on my screen. Should I try doing the same but download the drivers first?

I tried installing the drivers but it says that the graphics card wasn't detected.

Theres a DVI in and out port and a HDMI port. I was trying to use the HDMI port. I only have 1 monitor.

Updating my bios didn't work unfortunately, I still can't select my GTX 950. It completely isn't detecting. Any more ideas?

When I disable the onboard gpu via bios my monitor goes to 'no signal' but my computer stays on. I've tried connecting my computer to my monitor with 2 different hdmi cables aswell.

I tried running it but it says it requires an nvidia gpu.

Thanks for replying! That's a massive relief. I thought the gpu was broken. Motherboards aren't too hard to install are they?

1,,,,take card out and check there are no bent pins and give them a quick clean with a tissue and alcohol
2... check your pci slot just to make sure that it is clear and nothing has become stuck
3.... insert card back in making sure that your release tab comes back up and it is level all the way across
4....plug power back in and boot up
5.... hopefully it should have been detected ... check under device manager

Have you tried the DVI/VGA connection? Whichever one it has.

I have tried the HDMI on other things and it has worked. I haven't tried a dvi cable yet.
