My GSYNC experiences

lol :D:D:D

Anyway, you James, are a Legend. I have been hoping a user on here would buy one and give honest feedback and that you have done. A very decent review and good that you point out the bad as well. You are slightly making me regret jumping on a 4K, as I have no more funds available for the G-Sync swift that is "Coming soon" and that was where I was looking.

Thanks for taking the time to do this. How does Bioshock look if you have it and don't mind testing please. That has been one of the worst games for tearing for me, so very interested how that runs.

I've got bioshock installed so I'll have a look in the next hour mate. You have a lot of plus points with a 4k screen though, just as I do having a 144hz gsync one. If the 1440p 120hz gsync monitor is anything like this though, that would be were my money would go tbh as its the best of both worlds.

A possibility but the IQ of 4K would require a crowbar to get me away from that, however.... a 4K G-Sync monitor would work :D

Behave, I was only teasing and thought you had a sense of humour.

Well seeing you was interested in my posts i'll give you a special break down. ;)

"I asked genuine question because Gsync or FreeSync is something I would like to try"

This was a reply to a question I asked whats Gysnc like compared to no sync and it would be something I would like to try you know to compare and see if they is anything I could be missing out on. :D

Next
"I believe it now is wasn't something posted on here other week. I dont follow all this sync stuff tbh its never interested me"
This is because I have never been interested in any form of sync be it Gsync or even Freesync. It is something I simple dont follow I stand by the best way to game is sync/lag free frames.

:p:D

Cheers James. I was tempted to jump on this but then heard of the Rog Swift coming in March/early April, I held off and then the news of Summer at the earliest and seeing that I could grab a 4K for a good price had me sold.

Looking forward to what you think in Bio cheers :)

Fair enough Shankly.

people generally discuss things they're interested in

it's not really a discussion when you say mantle can do this for me, best way to game is no sync at all is it

He was asking genuine questions and didn't actually say any of the stuff that you keep claiming.

Besides, this isn't exactly the height of discussion is it? Especially when these things haven't even been said here:

input lag can never be completely eliminated and gsync benefits been explained before but amd fans pipe up with tings like "but i dont see tearing" "my current monitor already perfect, no input lag, no tearing, no stuttering, nvidia pointless tech"

You dont quite understand what we was talking about do you?

When I was talking about Mantle we was comparing the experience of Frame rate slow downs. What Gsync seems to do, its also what Mantle does on BF4 vs what DX11 does when the frame rate drops like James said you get a slow down effect. Mantle you dont get this.

Does Mantle sync my frames up to the display? No so therefor they is zero latency to the frames am getting. My point was about the Frame stutter when frame rate drops.

@Greg No hard feeling :D

Well said.

Comparisons can be made to some degree between Mantle and Gsync as they both have a similar effect. Smoothing things out and removing stutter. Mantle does not solve tearing though, but as far as i can tell there is no input lag from using Vsync with it. Why this is i don't know.

Nope he's saying no tearing, input lag etc and using a video recorded on a mobile phone as "proof"

In fact it goes against what he's stated as in parts it looks like it is stuttering because of the poor recording.

And go and continue your little journey and read the comments passed between me and James to understand what we was talking about. you know what I not even replying back to you seeing you just trying to twist things and start another off topic war.

Go away please

Really? Mantle again? This is not a Mantle thread, the link between the technology of G-Sync and Mantle is tenuous at best - Mantle is an API which doesn't even address the problems that G-Sync covers, so enough of this nonsense and let's get back on track, this is a good topic and I am very pleased that James J is giving his insight into G-Sync, don't spoil his thread please.
