Yesterday my hard drive started making loud seek noises and I notice windows is taking longer to start-up. Also when I save files to the desktop they don't appear until I refresh the desktop which has never happened before. I have provided a sound recording and a couple of screen-shots of resource monitor. If you listen carefully then you will hear noises that happen continuously when on.

Oh and another thing I now can't view temperature information about anything except my graphics card and this has started yesterday too. It just sticks on analysing.

Any help would be appreciated as I haven't the faintest idea what to do.

Thanks!

Find out which manufacturer made your HD (can be done by finding it in device manager and google the model #). Go to the manufacturer support website and download their drive fitness tool (usually a .iso). Burn it to CD, boot from it and run a long test. That'll tell you if there are any faults.

Optional: replace with a SSD. Profit. :)

seems you may have a viruse, did you download any dodgy gear... lol

the best bet would be to buy another hard drive and put win on the new one and check the 2nd on if the data is ok.
