My house renovation project

Pictures coming later today!

Few updates:

- Kitchen has been re-measured again today for the new layout.
- Ground floor ceiling all boarded.
- Bathroom wall re-skimmed
- All chases now done for CAT6, Power and HDMI.
- SWA Cable installed to outside ready for garage power + exterior lighting.
- Shower installed.

By the end of the day we'll have the soil pipe boxed in, Media cupboard and the under stairs cupboard built.

Hoping my sparky will be in to do the recessed spotlights soon!
Plastering starts a week saturday.... How exciting!

Some photographic updates:
Knocked out the old understair cupboard and started building the new one!

I'd say about 90% finished with this now!

The Bathroom, getting RH wall re-skimmed and parts re-done as I want it to be A1 before I start painting it (which won't be that dark grey!)

Better picture close up:

Couple of random pictures of the chases in the bedrooms.

Revised Kitchen Plan.

The old plan was too expensive and didn't make the best use of the space I had available so I decided to switch manufacturer (Magnet) and get a new plan drawn up.
It was a fairly simple task to be honest, I told them what I wanted and they drew it all up.

Kitchen ordered and set to be installed in next two weeks!

I nearly cried when I parted with my money!!

LED Strip lights ordered.
Granite worktop - Steel Grey ordered!

Just waiting for the flooring quotes now!

So last night was spent cutting the spot lights out for the ground floor!
Looks a bit like an airport landing strip!! lol

Also popped into magnet with my granite samples to see how they all match up with my plans!
Looking good so far!

Couple of pictures from when I bought the house originally:

When I originally took the old fireplace out 3 years ago!

The overgrown garden! - Original!

Don't worry about that!
Going to look at some proper wood this week, going to go dark I think!

Ceiling now plastered! Some of the spots look a bit funny in this pic with the wide-angle lens.
Next weekend walls to be bonded and skimmed. Progress!

Few picture updates, all the bonding has been done now!
Just waiting for the guys to come back and skim the kitchen this week so the fitter can get started with that.

Hoping we will be completed in the next 4 weeks providing I dont get let down by any more trades people!!

You're not doing any of the work yourself?
Think i'd go barmey waiting for the relevant trades to show up. I know what they're like. I'd tackle a lot of the work myself, for that very reason.
I totally understand your choice for paying someone to do it all though. :)

Hi there,

Things like the demolition, building the cupboard under the stairs, plasterboarding the ceiling, routing the cables etc... I've all done myself.

Plastering is an art and it pays for someone who knows what they're doing to take care of it.
The same applies to plumbing and electrical work.
Whilst I think I'd be fairly competent I'm neither a plumber or electrician and wanted everything done properly.

Again with the kitchen, a friend of mine who is very handy fitted his own kitchen but there are imperfections.
The chap fitting my kitchen's work is superior to any I've seen so far so it's worth the investment.

Cool beans. Yeah, i guess with the amount you're spending on the whole house, you either do some yourself to save some money or you pay and have the whole lot done to a great standard. Horse for courses.
Looking forward to end pics bud, should be sweet. :)

I've tried to do as much as I can myself but it's so hard when you've done 12 hours of work to get the motivation to do things and to do them to a standard you'd be happy with.

Just had the plasterer on the phone to say we're going to get skimmed up tomorrow in the kitchen area so the kitchen fitter can crack on this week and start fitting the kitchen! How exciting :D
