My house renovation project

Hi there

Had to get them in next couple of days or would be another 2 weeks before I could get it done which would have messed with my pre Xmas timescale!

The units are from magnet planar white handle less kitchen. The cost for the units with integrated appliances (fridge freezer washing machine dishwasher oven hob and extractor) which was 5.5K all in. The end panels are quite expensive too.
Fitting cost £1200 excluding the electrical work and plastering.
The worktops are steel grey granite which would have been £2600 but I have a friend in the trade who owes me a favour!

I haven't put anything on anything.... I assume its been put like that whilst they sort everything out coming back next week to finish!

It has been placed on something, if it is two skids, from front to back then it isn't so bad, but if it has been placed onto 4 individual blocks you will have an utter nightmare should you ever have to pull it out.

Also, the feet look like they have been dialled all the way up so when the worktop does go on you will not be able to drop the machine as the feet are already adjusted.

We come across loads where 4 blocks are put down, the appliance put in then the worktop in put on top.

I've no idea, I don't profess to being a kitchen fitter! - But thanks for your advice I'll mention to the guys and see what they say.

£1200 for fitting, plastering and electrics? Bargain. What sort of electrics did you need? Cost me half that for my spark work!

Hi there, I said £1,200 EXCLUDING plastering and electrics.

I basically had the whole house rewired to 17th Edition, well I ran a lot of the cables and the sparky mate of mine has checked it and connected it all to the Consumer unit.

But to answer your question on electrics I have a new ring for the kitchen.
new wiring for the boiler.
3 new double sockets.
Grid switch for the integrated appliances.
Wiring for LED strip lights under cabinets.
New oven feed.
Two outside lights.
Spotlights.

Kitchen looks nice mate :)
Magnet tho  they were by far the most expensive quotes we had.

Yeah end panels are retarded prices tbh, what I noticed tho was if you go for one of the more "basic" range's end panels they seem to be EXACTLY the same as the expensive ranges LOL.

Sneaky adding a door to the front of the boiler, works well :)
Those blocks look very bad shoudl anything ever go wrong wiht the washer lol

Grey worktops were a no from the missus :( Thats what I wanted tho
We've ended up going with black granite, stiull undecided on source tho

Still think that when the misses has a pile of washing and drying to do its gonna drive you insane. My games room was decommissioned on the first baby and now im stuck in the open plan dining/kitchen still a fair distance away from the washer and tumble drier but need to have a have a pair of turtle beaches ready.

The Kitchen Fitter has a trade account with Magnet so I was able to choose what I wanted and take advantage of the trade discount available.
I tried DIY-Kitchens who came out around £400 cheaper but given the experience I had with 'betterbathrooms.com' I decided to spend more an go local should I have any issues I have a 10 minute drive rather than a 3 hour drive.

I basically designed the kitchen layout and got the magnet man to draw it all up properly.
I wanted everything hidden away as much as possible.

Yeah well there's only the two of us, it's actually my house. She isn't due to move in full time just yet, but when I do washing it will probably a case of putting it on at lunchtime and hanging it out to dry when I get home!

But I do have a set of Turtle Beaches just incase ;)
