Just thought id post a picture of my desktop on ubuntu
i am using the awn dock and a brushed aluminum theme but it is not a mac clone
screenshotiz1.png

personally i think it is awesome but your views may differ

yes it is chigago, also i tried kde yesterday i installed it on ubuntu and my god, it was horrid, everything crashed and it looked so ugly. took me 3 hours to get rid of all the packages

Yeah the default install is pretty rough. Arch has a custom one called kdemod that is 100 times better. But i sitll find KDE so much more configurable than gnome and all the packages constitute a common GUI, which i like, each to their own, i just dont like gnome :)

Sweet im sorting out a propper gentoo install when im propperly back form uni in a couple of weeks!

hehe thank god im not insane with the G's... :)

Use XFce, you will never look back, or with a bit of editing I find FluxBox can also be very nice.

Regardless of which you use, they will beat Gnome and KDE any day in my eyes.

I'm not looking forward to uninstalling Linux as my main OS.. But I am going to in preparation for AoC, as I don't really see the point in dual booting. I have been using Ubuntu exclusively for the last few months and have really enjoyed learning it, and using it

Fluxbox isn't a DE though it's a WM and nothing more. I use it on low spec laptops it's great for that sort of thing and a minimal desktop.

I'm sure there will be a way to get AoC running on Ubuntu

Im gonna install ubuntu again, as like you i tried kde and it made my partition cry.

Ill add you to msn tonight!

I want that theme and doc working!

Will save me £400 on a macbook lol
