Sent it back to Dell and they sorted it but now the fan does what yours does where it's quiet, then speeds up, then slows down, then speeds up etc. Just leaving it like that atm as the Dell support was crap and took too long to sort out.
 
ahh thank f*ck i didnt get the 3 years 1..

hmm my dad has the 1100, he had it about 2 or 3 years.. his is fine!!!..
i got the 3100 which just p*ss's all over his.. so.. i think its the 3100's
i have ask people with other dell's not same as mine.. they have no problem at all :mad: :( :confused:

Mines not the 3100, i think it's the 6000 series, but it's got the same case and probably the same fan.

On the Dell cd or pre-installed on the pc there will be a users manual in .pdf format. Look in there and it has full instructions on how to remove the plastic casing around the hsf :)
