My Microsoft Exams

I'f i am right i think the pass mark is 70% (you need 700 marks to pass) and i think the near total of marks that are in the exam are 1000.

Cool thanks :)

Spent today doing "readiness review" there were 300 questions and I got 75%.

Was a bit disappointed because I thought the pass might be 80%.

An exam on Windows XP

:p

It's an exam on Installing, configuring and administrating windows xp.

It's not as simple as it sounds. You basically need to know (inside out) numerous areas of XP security (geared towards domain security and policies, etc).. majority of the different methods of deploying XP (remote installation services, imaging...) .. lots of questions on NTFS and Share permissions (e.g calculating what takes precedence) and much much more.

It was (in my experience) a bit of a tricky exam moreso because the questions were so varied and the answers were really ambiguous. Technically wise it's a simple. I've sat through a lot of exams (and more microsoft) but this was a long boring mofo.

Good luck the OP, the best advice I can give you - read through the question/your answer three times before proceeding to the next. Any questions you are unsure on - work out by a process of elimination.

I did this exam a few weeks ago. I have worked in various corporate tech support environments for the past six years, so was rather cynical as to whether this course could actually teach me anything. I was wrong - I learned quite a bit, and my knowledge of group policies, NTFS, EFS, RIS and various other XP related features was greatly enhanced.

Over a period of four weeks I watched some training videos, read the Sybex book, took some practice exams and then passed the real thing.

People may question the logic behind taking xp/server 2003 exams - the logic behind me doing them - very few companies have/are moving to vista. Once I have my MCSE, I'll only be a few upgrades exams away from being certified for the 2008 equivalent qual.

People still study for this exam? Roofles. :)

Good luck!! :)

As it's part of the MCSA / E route people will continue to do it.

All Microsoft exams are a pass rate of 700 points. Questions are also weighted. For the exams they do have a lot of cross over. Expect questions related to AD / Domains in there as well.

Got 84.2% :)

Passmark was 70% as mentioned.

Well chuffed, loads of people I work with failed it and I don't think they thought I'd pass either!

Can't believe how long u get to do 65 questions! I have nearly 2 hours left when I'd finished!

:D
