Sure having a fast car is great and all but with todays petrol prices filling the car up really hurts. :(

So yesterday I thought I would do 55mph gps all the way to and from Birmingham all part from some small boostage in and around the city.

Stopped in a service station on the way up, looking rather good so far. 105 miles and not even a 1/4 used.

Stopped at another service station on the way back for some sleep. Would have had a bit more fuel if I didnt boost around Birmingham.

Made it back home and nearly 300 miles with about a 1/4 left. Normally average about 230miles to a 55L tank.

Woah! I went to Gatwick and back, then back to gatwick then back home again the other week on a full tank and only managed 250 miles to a full tank lol.

Using my VL guesstimator (tm), I reckon that's about 33mpg?

(3/4 of a 55l tank = 41.25l / 4.54 = 9.08g, 299/9.08 = 32.9mpg)

Although a lot of tanks taper, so you won't know till you brim it again.

You can't work it out like that, fuel guages are nowhere near accurate enough.

Yeah it gets down to zero, stays like that for a while and when the light does come on I still have about 9L left I think.

You know Honda?

My gauge is a friggin joke.

Anyway - for mpg boasting - I got 34 mpg out of mine last week - South Bham to York, then back.

Always found Vauxhall gauges the worst - every car I've ever had from them had a broken gauge.

Best I've had from the Bora is about 36/37 with motorway cruising and keeping it off-boost as much as possible.

For the last 4 years iv raged around in my dturbo not really thinking economy. As fuel prices are getting a bit of a joke, I too have been taking it steady in the past 2 weeks. 60 mph everywhere with no boost = 618 miles to the tank of my car :o Before my max was 430!

They are just as inaccurate,

I get 380-390miles to 10 gallons (full tank) yet the computer shows 44mpg  (03 Toyota Corolla Derv)

Odd, mine showed an average of 38.2MPG for my last tank, and I got 460 Miles from it. Oddly, a 55 Litre tank, returning 460 miles = 38.3MPG

Hardly innacurate. Perhaps you have a naff car?

Doubt it, everyone else in Toyota says the same.
