Hi just built my first pc yesterday and everything went great installed windows 7 pro 64bit and all drivers but when i play crysis 20 30 mins in my pc just locks up now its happenned too many times any help.

Asus p5n-d mobo
intel q9400 processer
Arctic silver 5
xigmatek red scorpion cpu cooler
4gb ddr2 corsair ram 800mhz
Asus EAH5850 GPU
XFX 750w psu
windows 7 pro 64bit

and nothing is overclocked yet either plz help

Check that your bios has actually set the ram at 400mhz(DDR800) Assuming you bought DDR2 PC6400, and you may need to increase the memory voltage to 1.9V to achieve stability.

Take a screenshot of CPU-Z on the memory page, and post it here

thks for quick replies my temps are fine got prime95 to run for 3 hrs and my temps never went above 49 degrees celcius also ran memtest for 4 hrs no errors so im just baffled

How many pass cycles did it manage in 4 hours, it takes a fair amount of time to properly test the ram with the quantities we have these days. 49C on the cpu should be nothing to worry about, mebee check the temps on the GPU, but should be ok at stock speeds.

well i know it got to 100% then i stopped it and ive got asus smart doctor and my gpu idles at 34 - 38 not too sure on full load

Is this problem only occurring when you play Crysis? If so, make sure the game is fully patched.

Also make sure you have the latest ATI Catalyst drivers installed. If they are already installed try re-installing them.

it wont let me attach an image so ill tell u wat cpu z says about my ram

Dram frequency : 400mhz
FSB:DRAM : 5:6
CAS LATENCY : 5.0
RAS TO CAS : 5 CLOCKS
RAS PRECHARGE : 5 CLOCKS
CYCLE TIME : 31 CLOCKS
BANK CYCLE TIME : 22 CLOCKS
COMMAND RATE : 2T

Have you got any other games to test it with? Could be a graphics card issue if Prime and Memtest didn't find any errors.

Ok, So your bios has detected the ram speed and timings correctly that is a good start, Take a look in bios, and see what the memory voltage is (It will normally default to 1.8v). Your ram is rated for 1.9v unless I am mistaken, and it could be that the extra 0.1V is all you need to achieve stability at stock speeds.

PS. Prime and Memtest are good, but I have had systems which could pass prime for 17+ hours and then fail, and in games fail within minutes.

ok how do i actually check my dram voltage ive put it on 1.9 in the bios will it actually be that and ive ran 3d mark vantage loads of times but only on performance cause my screen resolution is too low for higher. oh sorry thought it was a typo it is actualy furmark ok does it work with 64 bit os

Aye, I just ran Furmark on my Windows 7 64 bit system and it works fine - just download the current 1.8 version like did and give it a go (make sure you set it to stability test mode and log GPU temperatures).

ok ive been running a stability test for a while now does it finish or go on forever and my temps are at 69 to 71 degrees what about yours
