My New Build - With Pictures

This is my first build in over 10 years, and the first i have done by myself, to many its as simple as lego, but to me i was worried i would bugger something up. I'm quite pleased with everything. I think i need to bling it up a little, its very Black.

MSI GTX 570
I7 2600k



Cables everywhere and not even started!


Power supply in - that was easy!


Motherboard this was the bit i was worried about buggering up


was straight forward i guess


watched a really good video on youtube about installing this, was impossible for even me to bugger up.


new ssd to replace my intel 80gb one


memory installed


the back is looking messy!


reusing my 570, look at the dust! its only 2months old!


installed and done!




bit bigger than my shuttle!

Very nice. You must feel very pleased with your self.Well done mate. Just need some cold cathodes to bling it up a bit
 
Nice. :)

One issue your PSU is the wrong way round. The case has a PSU ventilation mesh and dust filter at the bottom of the case for a reason. :)
 
Nice indeed... and well spotted Sasahara... a bit more work still to do then!

... and while you are about it, perhaps a wee bit of cable management wouldn't go amiss! ;)

The 'all black' look does look well smart though!

Edit: Perhaps one of the 'Mods', or Admin could move this thread to a more appropriate section, as suggested earlier?
 
does water cooler push or pull ? if it pulls then leave your PSU the way it is now.. if it pushes then yes switch it around

CPU fan is irrelevant, the PSU fan is supposed to suck cool air in, move over the components and the resulting heated air gets expelled out the back.

Putting it the wrong way round not only are you trying to pull hot air from the GPU, your also working against thermodynamics, heat rises. What you have here is a hotter PSU resulting in a lower life span and potentially a hotter GPU with the heat coming off the PSU.
 
I don't want to start drifting too far 'off topic' here, but I am currently faced with a similar situation myself.

Just to clarify the position, which I assume is common to all PSU's and not just this one, surely I am correct in thinking that the 'internal' fan, which is currently visible inside the case, will 'suck' rather than 'blow', as the PSU only has one fan anyway (well mine does!) which will also have to expel air out of the 'back' as well... or have I got that all wrong?

Edit: Surely there is no way that the PSU fan can really suck cool air in (as Sasahara mentioned) unless of course... and that is what is being proposed here... the case has an appropriately positioned 'hole'? :confused:

The PSU fan blows out the back so it either sucks from the bottom of the case or the inside of the case depending on the orientation

I have two rads.. top and front.. both of my rads suck air INTO the case.. the only method I have to expell air is the PSU as I cannot fit a fan at the back of the case as its obscured by the top rad. The PSU is designed to operate at 50 degrees. Since my GPU and CPU will be underwater the inside the case wont reach 50 degrees

This is my thinking anyway...
 
I like the colour of that motherboard. Reminds me of my motherboard, except more tasteful and not 200 years old. Most motherboards these days are covered in blue :(

The case is really nice too. Cable management looks great in it. I have the same PSU and the cabling in mine is a mess simply because there isn't anywhere to put most of the cables.

im fairly pleased, i had a evening where it crashed and would not reboot, but that stopped and had it on for the last 48 hours solid without issue. gutted i fitted the PSU the wrong way around, i hope i can simply turn it over when i get home without having to bring all the wires in and then do the cable management again :(

just purchased a couple of lights from a high street electrical store and will add them when i get home.

Nice looking forward to some more pictures. Keep meaning to post some of my build also a 650d, may have overdone mine with the uv cathodes tho im sure im getting a tan:D
Not to everyones taste but i must say tho i do like pretty lights

yeah i just have the 2 to install for now. Does your top sata dock work ok? if i plug a drive in during windows i get a bluescreen, i need to power off first

Yea, the writing on the PSU must have threw you, would look a bit weird upside down :p.

Overall, a nice case. Does make me want to go fix up some of my cable management. Can hardly get the side panel on, there are that many cables hidden round the back!
