My new lens.... prepare to be jealous

thanks, that's a 100% crop too, the full size is even better. TBH, it's trial and error with the 'reversed lens' technique, you have literally about a millimetre to get the focus you want and that time i got it right. It's definitely my favourite subject though is macro photography, though idon't have a proper macro lens, i paid £25 i think for my 35-80 lens and about £8 for the reversing adapter, worth every penny ;)

ditto on the removal of front element :D

it is the mark 1 version of the 35-80 with the front element removed that i took those pictures with :). Not a pretty lens but it does the job. As far as I am aware the mark 3 can have the front element removed too but by a completely different method, so i can't help you on that.

I payed £20 for it including a canon eos-1000f film body :)

they usually go for around £30/£35 on ebay, but wotth every penny for it's hidden capabilities ;)
I have the Mk3 version and don't know how to take the front off it yet, might have a play though - see if i can figure it out.

well mines definately a capable test subject due to its low cost (and it has a nasty scratch on the back element - not that i notice it in its result  ) so if you find out how and want me to put mine under the knife first just say so and ill give it a shot!

Did it this morning, the fron of the lens that says something like 'canon F=4/5.6 mk3, is a sticker, peel it away and there are 3 screws underneath, unscrew and bobs your uncle, now, taking photo's using this method i found was useless with a flash, it just washed the subject out, even at F/22 and 1/200 second. it would work without a flash, but likely to need a tripod.
The pics above of mine, (page 1) i used the same lens but reversed onto the camera body, and now having tried both methods, i do prefer the reversed method over removing the front element.
