wow guys thanks for the quick responses XD

yeah i know i just wanna go a little bit crazy and not have to worry about upgrading again for another 1 - 2 years. I enjoy building high end stuff so i figure if i got the money and i enjoy it what does it matter :P

Yeah im running everything on my 30 inch dell at 2560x1600 so i want something that will at least give me some half decent frame rates rather than a slide show.

do you think 12GB of ram is a bit excessive ?

Also do you think i should grad a solid state hard drive while im there for my OS or will a normal WD Raptor not hold me back that much ?

Cheers !!!

"willy waving rig" omg that made me rofl ! Well yeah i cant be arsed to keep upgrading every 6 months to a year so i just i want something that will do me for 2 years, and 2x 295s come in at 988.98 so not over a grand but not far off !!!

Dya think ill be able to power everything sufficiently with a 850w PSU or should i get a 1000w ? My electricity bill is already 100 quid a month so i don't wanna get that extra power if its not needed :P

Thanks for all the responses i really appreciate it.

speaking of the credit crunch not hitting me lol i work in banking believe it or not ! Even worse i used to work for Lehmans and got out just before they went under...

That's what I would do, and what about a nicer case with some of the money saved? A Silverstone TJ07 or TJ10 would be nice with that setup? or one of the larger Lian Li, (Armorsuit PC80?).

And you HAVE to write up a build log on that beast so we can all drool over the pictures :D

Good luck with the build ;)

WhiteKnight

Good thinking mate, although most of the other cases i looked at did not have a window and it may just be my personal preference but when forking out my hard earned money i kind of want a case with a window so i can see all of what i spunked it on rather than just a nice case that could contain anything.... will try and get a build log going, never done that before but would like to share it with all you guys seeing as you helping me to make some choices i wasn't sure on :D

one more point, i know a lot of you see this is excessive but please remember im gaming at a res of 2560x1600 which i really do not believe one 295 alone would be able to achieve the framerates i would like.

thats exactly what i thought, i watch my blue ray stuff on my PS3 so i dont really NEED one, the only thing i was thinking is burning music to like 40gig CD's would be awesome if only they would play in a Car stereo but seeing as my head unit only plays CD's it would be king of pointless me having one all together i reckon

So, changes so far are...

upgrade to a 1000w PSU
upgrade to a solid state hdd
downgrade to 6gb of ram rather than 12gb

gonna role with Nvidia rather than ATI as i have a 3870x2 now and it doesnt even handle the shadows on full in Wow at 2560x1600 plus i feel my nvidia fanboi roots calling me.

OK... some last minute changes, i have been reading that TRI SLI out performs quad SLI in most benchmarks, 3 way SLI seems to not strip the gpu's of some of their memory and also do not suffer from stuttering as much so this is how im gonna role...
