My New Watch

Sorry to drag this back up but I've read this thread with interest at all the fake-sayers.

Not at all saying who's wrong or right, but surely there are always going to be lots of subtle differences between watches of the same brand and model between years of production? They are pretty much hand made after all.

They must have had different suppliers etc. over the years meaning slightly different materials, hands, finishes.

In any case it's a nice looking watch and has a timeless classic design. Not like these stupid fashion watches like "Storm" which just look vile.

Rolex but very little in most is made in house, yes there are some very minor differences from year to year and with location ( some areas have a different shape S on submariner ) but in general these are known and understood, things such as the cyclops magnification have not changed

TBH I don't think it matters one way or the other to the OP if its real or fake. It's sentimental value obviously far outweighs any material worth that it has whether real or not. It was a treasured possession of his grandfather that has been passed onto him. At the end of the day that all that matters.

That's exactly it.

Obviously one could say that his grandfather was taken for a ride if he paid a few k for it.

That ( SEL ) case/bracelet style wasn't fitted to the Sub till about 2001 iirc

TBH it would have been nice if it was real, but I was not planning on selling it, and to everyone who just glances at it there not going to know its fake, and they wiould have to be fairly clued up on watches to know it was. That's assuming it is fake of course.

Thanks for all the comments and help in this thread people :)

I posted this way back in the thread but OP wanted to know if it was real or fake out if interest.

Does anyone bother to read threads from the start anymore ??? would be nice if they did so we didnt get the same things said over and over.
