My New Z5500 faulty?

Oh joy,

I never did send them back as I phoned them up and it turns out Logitech have discontinued the Z-5400 in the UK, so all they could offer me was a Z-5500 set.. if I gave them another £60 ;)

So i contacted logitech who have agreed to send me a EU set, where apparantly they are still made and sold! Only difference is the kettle lead it comes with is a two pin affair.

Heres hoping EU sets arn't plagued with all the problems UK sets seem to be.

Interesting I have a set of 5400's to go back I wouldnt mind paying the upgrade for a new set.
 
Logitech support have been excellent I must say.

I contacted them through their online web based system, the whole process took about 3 days and they were happy with the reason the e-tailer gave (i.e. no longer stocked in the UK.)

They are sending me a brand new EU (i.e. 2 pin kettle lead supplied) set, its due in 3 days. Once I have it I have to return all the speaker wire, the remote and the power plug (dont ask me why on that one given its a detachable kettle lead!) to an addres in switzerland, should ciost me about £5 to post all in all.

Im happy with that service, they were the same when my mouse went doolaly too.

Hi, I find that even if you don't send anything back, they don't even ask. ;)
 
Obviously don't build em like they used too, I've lobbed about 7 pints of various liquids in to my z680 sub and it's still going strong :p
 
i had the slight hissing and popping problem (only happens in left front speaker -sometimes no sound comes from it at all!) but i got full refund and kept the speakers! so for now i'm just living with it :p

Jus ta quick update,

My new Z-5400's came this morning (2 working days to get it to me) via UPS.

Just finished setting them up, theres a few changes, the display of the digital pod is a bit dimmer (this is good the old one was too bright in the dark for me) and they seem to have reduced the overall volume on these a bit, i.e. 4 "blobs" is now about the same volume as 2.5 was before (what i used to leave it on most of the time.)

So far theres no audible hiss to them and no popping (but only had them turned on for an hour or so)

The manufacture date of these is 2 years newer than the old set I had, so heres hoping all the "bugs" have been totally eradicated from these..

so touch wood, so far ive been very happy with the logitech service overall.
