My (newish) YBR 125

They are, I've seen more meat on a chicken wing, my cbr125 had the same wheels and they were ****, no trust in them at all. :p

So you would not ride any older bikes then RG500 LC 350 GS1000 e.t.c all had thin tyres I had 100% confidence on my 125s.

I also used to carry my balls around in a wheel barrow many years ago :p

Thanks for all your replies! Really itching to get back on it as I haven't really had the chance to this week. I'll probably manage to this weekend :)

Booked my module 1 unrestricted test for the end of April and I should probably book my module 2 asap too.

Mods wise I'll probably get the iridium spark plug done for the service this March and the tyres as well. Brakes I can do myself though when they need doing. I'll look at the exhaust system in the next few weeks.

Really looking forwards to putting the miles on it though :-D

Not really worth putting any money into the exhaust, it's never going to sound amazing and it won't give you any power gains. If you're going for your full licence just save the cash so you can chop it in for a big bike.

That's a fair point tom_e!

I bought front pads a while back ready to fit, my wear indicator still shows I've got some meat left on the rear shoes as well but I should prioritise tyres and the spark plug I think and look at the air feed system as well. But as has already been mentioned, I probably shouldn't chase power and put the good money on a big bike.

I'm going to probably go for an extended ride this afternoon to this evening, maybe find a quiet area to practice low speed manoeuvres too in preparation for my mod 1 practical.

There is a Yamaha dealership near me, who will be able to do my service for me. It looks like the services were done every 6 months by the previous owner - does that seem reasonable for a bike?
