my phenom 965 c3 clocking

i think my ram timeings was the issue. so im back to 8-8-8-20 1t. so im at 3.8ghz, 2.6ghz running prime95, if that passes , then ill know for sure it was the ram. then ill start pushing the clocks more.

i've got the temps down to 43-45c

nice mate

but now the biggist test would be prime95 on blend for atlest 6-8 hours. if that passes then you'll know its stable.

i don't know which to buy, monitor or motherboard, http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-230-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1481 or http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-040-OK&groupid=17&catid=1120&subcat= or http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-052-IY&groupid=17&catid=1120&subcat=

i already have a 24" monitor. but it keeps going off. as for the motherboard, i've been getting issues with it..

so i don't know which to go for.. but the 28" monitor looks great. :D

can get some 32 lcd for 300 :D
yeah but that'll a lcd tv which i don't want because of the res issues.

i haven't ordered the 28" monitor just yet. because i've just returned a 26" full HD lcd tv which i was going to use as a pc monitor but the most resolutions didn't look right also it says max res was 1920x1200 but it wouldn't go to that and the 1080p looked crap because the screen was a 16:10.

or another thing is should i go another 5850? :p

Thank you for your hard work and effort Gareth, much appreciated! :)

your welcome.

at the moment im running prime95 on blend which im goiing for a 8 hour run so far its done 6 hours if it passed 8hours then i know i've got the ram timing stable then tomorrow i'll up the nb.

I am wondering about your cooling Gareth, I did skim the thread but I didn't see it, I think you said before you had a Ultra-120 classic right?
yes ultra-120A

If you freeze your system down a bit (open windows etc) and confirm it's happier at 4.0GHz then maybe there is scope to get you some enhanced cooling sorted . . .what do you think?
one side my case isn't on fully due to the cpu cooler touching the 38cm side fan. so i guess that helps abit. from about 5-6pm my room temp drops so tomorrow i may try..

ok your cpu-nb is slightly better then, mine needs about 1.35-1.375v... for 2.6ghz it needs 1.275v so im keeping at that for now..

amd says the cpu-nb frequency needs to be 3x the amount of the ram speed.

In general the CPU NB clock should be at least three times the Memory clock
(example in case of DDR3-1600: 3 x 800MHz = 2400MHz NB clock)

PC3-12800C7 1600MHz 7-7-7-24, but the Asus M4A79XTD can only run it at 8-7-7-24, unless they fix it in a new bios update.
i don't think a new bios update will fix it tbh, i can't even get my ram stable at 7-7-7-20 1.7v which is stock, but it need 1.75v to get 90% stable and 1.8v for 100% stable. but im not happy with keeping it at 1.8v.

it just crashed  its CPU clock on default 3.4ghz, auto cpu voltage, i set NB freq to 2.6 and changed CPU-NB voltage to 1.26 and it crashed why is that ? ram running at 1600mhz
mine needs 1.275v but each chip isn't the same.. each chip need more or less voltage.

what your temps at that?

so do i only change CPU multi + cpu voltage, CPU-NB voltage in trying to overclock it ? right ?, will be happy and gratefull if you could help me, going to sleep now so tired

Thanks
yes

start of just uping the CPU multi then when you've found the limit on stock voltage, start to up the voltage by +0.025v then try uping the CPU multi again then when you've found the limit go back to the voltage and add another +0.025v . just keep doing that. remember to watch the temps and don't go over 1.5-1.55v.. test the clock using prime95 on blend setting for a good 5-8hours & use LinX or IBT on maximum/all for 20-25 runs just to doublely make should its fully stable.

after the clock is stable u can start doing the NB clock

Its set at default clock 3.4ghz with 1.4 voltage, i noticed when its on load looking at CPU-Z, the Core Voltage drops to 1.375v, on idle its on 1.411, is that normal ?
yes its normal.

mine does it the other way round. e.g if i set 1.425v in the bios it idles at 1.408v but under load it goes to 1.424v.

for your motherboard just remember if u want let say 1.425v just set 1.450v in the bios then when it's under load it'll goes to 1.425v.
