My Prelude Project Thread

Hi there

I think this is probably the best thread I've read on these forums for a very long time. Its great to see something like this, so much dedication and my hat goes off to you and your dad because your quality of work and level of skill is superb. Does you or your dad work with cars as a trade or is this literally just a hobby/project you are doing?

Either way I really like the 4th gen Prelude and it looks to me that when you have finished your gonna have the best 4th gen Prelude in existance. Be proud, very proud and its a car you should never sell and treasure for life, because it will be completely unique. :)

My dad is a mechanic by trade, he's been in the trade for just over 30 years, and has worked on all manor of marques, and done various jobs, including some panel beating, spraying etc, as well as looking after the family's cars himself. I'm just a learner, but doing a project like this has really helped my knowledge and understanding!

Very impressive project so far. Hope you manage to get it finished in time.

What does your GF think of all the time you're spending on the car?

Excellent :D

Whats gas mark 3 in C then and how easy did the lights come apart? Im tempted to refurb mine so would be interesting to hear.

TBH, it's just a low temperature, but the most important thing is to not leave them in there for very long at all between checking it's OK! I don't think I left it in for more than about 30-60 seconds at a time between trying it - and I certainly never took my eyes off it!

Remember, you're doing it at your own risk, so don't blame me if my methods don't work for you! ;)

I'm stunned, now that's some serious devotion.

Will it be Cat D though?
I can't see why - the insurance company were never involved with my side of the accident. I'm paying for all the repairs straight out of my pocket, as i'm only TPFT and the accident was (in terms of the insurance company) 100% my fault, and they have paid for the 3rd party's damages, and not a single penny towards mine. However, the main reason I didn't post this up before is that I know exactly what this forum is like when someone posts details of an accident, and I couldn't be bothered at the time to argue with the masses who feel they can determine the ins-and-outs of an accident from a couple of pictures!

No, it won't be a write off then at all which is good.

So far as not posting it up at the time - no-one has a hard time unless they try to BS about the accident circumstances. I've only ever seen genuine sympathy and praise for people who have held their hands up and said "ok, I f'd up".

:)

What an absolutely fantastic thread :)

Congrats to you for carrying out all that work. It all appears to have gone pretty straight forward too. There's nothing worse than getting 1/2 way through a restoration and then running out of patience and giving up.

I like the rear lights too. Something a bit different without being OTT.

Looking forward to more pictures in the future.

I hate Preludes.

But, despite this, I read your entire thread and was fully engrossed and cannot wait to see the next installment. You've done a fantastic job, keep up the good work!

I am after some parts for a 2.0i lude, ideally, a windscreen and a middle section to the exhaust! Got any bits left over?? :p

The lights are fantastic, very taken with the LED work. Fancy writing a proper wiring guide/diagram for them?

ha! those rear lights i already half did a year or so ago before I got bored and never finished :(

Might start it up again with the celica, look ace ;)
