15 DEC: Get 6970, play for hours
2 weeks later: I look at benchmarks and realise that my FPS are fairly low
next week: notice my temps are getting quite high idling anywhere between 55-80

Start monitoring temps throughout games and the card starts reaching 95+ then game freezes and i get a black screen. Only thing I can do is cut the power to system and reboot.

after a black screen GPU fails POST with fan at 100%. (i dismiss this as a one off)

Send back to OcUK and ask for refund as i am now extremely ****** off.

No fault found. Card sent back at my expense.
DPD chuck it over fence at 12.32 and i get home 8/9ish. Card COULD have been stolen/dragged around my garde by fox (they have done this with many pairs of my shoes). Card FREEZING so i let it warm up for 2hrs. Put it in system and CCC can't find it.

Windows reinstall solves CCC problems.

Last week: I planned to go to computer shop to test but didn't have time so asked a friend to test in his system. His only comment was that it runs too high and loud and that i got ripped. He's joking but i'm still ******.

Try it in XPS 420 with 750W PSU - same problem
Try it in Asus Vento with generic 550W PSU same problem. (obviously i didn't put ANY load onto the card with this PSU - just checked idle temps)

Sent HIS support ticket asking if i COULD RMA card (no reply yet)

Borrowing CRYSIS of a friend to compare my cards performance to that of my whithering 8800GTX.

Today: called consumer direct and they said the card was NOT fit for purpose.

If there are any questions you want to ask feel free.

Thanks very much for being patient with me.

Apologies for confusing you with my last thread.

Tbh theres not really any more advice people on here can give you. This is a matter between you and ocuk. I sounds like your having an awful time but creating these threads constantly isnt really going to help you. Have you spoken to anybody senior at ocuk and advised you have tested in several different rigs? did you get a reply from your customer service thread?

No reply. I am getting desperate here - that's the only reason i am creating this thread. OC just won't help. I will ask to speak to a anger tomorrow.

This is the last thread about this matter - i promise

Is it working now- as in does it still overheat/blackscreen?

What speed is the fan running at if it does?

Are the problems only happening with your mobo/ram/cpu- as in are the problems related to your machine?

The other mach8ines tested in had different ram, mobo and CPU. Rules out completely. 8800GTX is now very close in terms of performance to my 6970.

I will get screenshots tomorrow. I want the foxes to take it but the RSPCA would sue me for trying to burn the **** out of them. LOL

If I understand right its been tested by ocuk and his mate and runs fine. The behaviour described is also not exactly the hallmark of a borked card...running 'slow', catalyst bugs...ect...gpus dont start running 'slow' they artefact or you get corruption or they just plain die in nearly all cases.

EDIT- fair cop missed ze joke!

No, friend found it faulty. I did get artifacts but then they went away. Then magically appeared again. 8800GTX solved artifact problem. I got black dots when the card goes too high

Ooh don't ban him.. im enjoying his adventures .. See all he has to do is send it back and request a refund and state the graphics card is not compatible with his hardware.. Also wonders if he bought it with a credit card, if so he should be incontact with his cc company asking them for a refund too on that purchase .. He is just making things worse by delaying all this and if that graphics card really has a fault he will soon have a dead motherboard or psu.. If I knew something is faulty it would never get anywhere near my other pc components.

Anyone up for some virtual betting when he will fry rest of his pc components ? (if the graphics card is really faulty)

£30 on my brand new PSU

I'm doing this on an old "practice" computer
